The oral form-discrimination abilities of 18 orally educated and oriented deaf high school subjects were determined and compared to those of manually educated and oriented deaf subjects and normal-hearing subjects. The similarities and differences among the responses of the three groups were discussed and then compared to responses elicited from subjects with functional disorders of articulation. In general, the discrimination scores separated the manual deaf from the other two groups, particularly when differences in form shapes were involved in the test. The implications of the results for theories relating orosensory-discrimination abilities are discussed. It is postulated that, while a failure in oroperceptual functioning may lead to disorders of articulation, a failure to use the oral mechanism for speech activities, even in persons with normal orosensory capabilities, may result in poor performance on oroperceptual tasks.

The article is devoted to the study of the linguistic tradition of the Berbers, who are the indigenous people of North Africa. The Berbers have maintained a rich tradition of spoken language. At the turn of the 20th ‑21st centuries, against the backdrop of the intensification of the movement for self‑determination, their cultural and linguistic rights, the Berbers launched a large‑scale activity aimed at restoring the national written language. The author suggested that the need to develop standardized writing was partly due to the desire of the Berbers to consolidate the official status of their language in the Constitution. The author notes that the aggravation of the so‑called “Berber question” at the end of the 20th century spurred the interest of scientists and researchers in the Berber written heritage. Most of the surviving handwritten documents make Berber texts (mostly religious), recorded using the Arabic alphabet between the 15th and early 20th centuries. The study of conditions for their creation and fields of their application shows that these texts played a significant role in the dissemination of religious and scientific knowledge among the Berbers. It is concluded that despite the use of the predominantly oral form of the language, the Berbers managed to create a unique written tradition. The article discusses in detail the main problems of the study of Berber manuscripts, among which: the requirement from the researcher of serious pre‑knowledge in various fields; the problem of accessibility of texts stored in private collections; the need to develop unified approaches to the description of Berber manuscripts, their digitization and other important arrangements to ensure the availability of documents for the scientific‑research community. Particular attention is paid to the history of the creation of the first collections of Berber manuscripts and their cataloging. The author has also highlighted the work of scientists, who made a qualitative contribution to the study of the Berber manuscripts, most of which have not yet been discovered and carry significant potential aimed at pre‑ serving and enhancing the Berber cultural and historical heritage.

At the formative period of any human society, certain relevant orientations are conceived, designed and actualized to create awareness of what should be acceptable and/or unacceptable in human relationships. There are core values, norms and morals aimed at guiding the behaviour of the native population and making them aware of their place, time and identity within their society. The sole aim of such orientations is to ensure cohesion and a peaceful harmonious existence. Oral literature as it is referred to in this paper points to those literary artistic creations composed in oral form for the purposes of entertainment, edification and education. In the paper, we limit our discussions to the oral version of literature, drawing most of the excerpts from the works of oral Igbo literary artists. A few instances are also drawn from the written version as the need arises. KEYWORDS: RE-ORIENTATION, NATIONAL TRANSFORMATION, ROLE, ORAL IGBO LITERATURE

This article discusses a language phenomenon currently occurring in Indonesia which is related to borrowing English words with the addition of a prefix ng-/nge in the Indonesian. The purpose of this article is to show how some English words are borrowed in Indonesian and what changes occur within this borrowing process which will be seen on two linguistic levels (phonological and semantic). The data were collected through an observation either in writing forms found in social media or oral form used in daily conversations. The interim results show that phonologically, in general the loan words follow the Indonesian phonological rules with little divergence in certain cases. From the semantic analysis it was found that these Anglicism words can be divided into three categories based on their meanings: restriction, expansion and static.

This article presents a study of the effectiveness of the spray Fungin Forte (developed by LLC API-SAN) in the complex therapy of dermatophytosis in cats on a group of 20 animals infected spontaneously. Terbinafine in oral form in tablets was used as a fungicidal preparation and Fungin Forte samples in the form of a spray were used for local processing. The criteria for clinical efficacy were the results of an examination with a planimetry, which noted a reduction and change in the affected skin lesions, a decrease in the degree of itching (using a standard 10-point scale to assess itching), erythema, peeling, hair growth, and a negative mycological study conducted on DTM environment. The total therapeutic efficacy by the thirtieth day was 95 %, which allows the use of the spray as a local fungicide.

Abstract This experimental study explores the differential effects of spoken input-based and output-based tasks on vocabulary knowledge. The study also investigates whether such tasks result in more learning gains than exposure to input-only (no subsequent task). The study employed a pretest-posttest design with two groups: an experimental group (n = 32) who completed both input- and output-based tasks in a counterbalanced way and a comparison group (n = 12) who were only exposed to L2 input. Vocabulary gains were measured at three levels of sensitivity: oral spontaneous use, oral form recall and meaning recall. The findings showed that participants who were only exposed to L2 input learned significantly fewer words than participants who completed the input-based and output-based tasks. No difference in learning gains was found between the input-based and output-based tasks.

This article discusses the phenomenon of grounding the interpretation of the Qur'an in Indonesia by focusing on M. Quraish Shihab as a modern-contemporary interpreter who successfully interprets the Qur'an in written and oral form. The important location of M. Quraish Shihab in grounding the interpretation of the Qur'an lies in his efforts to interpret the Qur'an with language that is easy to understand but has high quality content. This makes M. Quraish Shihab always an important reference in the interpretation of the Qur'an in Indonesia, both among Al-Qur'an scholars and ordinary people. Tafsir Al-Misbah is evidence of success in grounding the interpretation of the Qur'an in Indonesia, both in the form of commentaries and studies. Kitab Tafsir Al-Misbah is the work of Phenomenal M. Quraish Shihab in simplifying the language of its interpretation, having previously been considered to be rambling on Kitab Tafsir Al-Qur'an 'Al-Karim. Meanwhile, the "Kajian Tafsir Al-Misbah" was born as an effort to maintain the understanding of the Qur'an by experts, so that the public gets enlightened understanding of the Qur'an by people who are truly in their capacity as interpreters of the Qur'an.

A random-sample, anonymous survey of the members of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) was conducted in spring 1990 measuring the attitudes and experiences of American oncologists concerning the antiemetic use of marijuana in cancer chemotherapy patients. The survey was mailed to about one third (N = 2,430) of all United States-based ASCO members and yielded a response rate of 43% (1,035). More than 44% of the respondents report recommending the (illegal) use of marijuana for the control of emesis to at least one cancer chemotherapy patient. Almost one half (48%) would prescribe marijuana to some of their patients if it were legal. As a group, respondents considered smoked marijuana to be somewhat more effective than the legally available oral synthetic dronabinol ([THC] Marinol; Unimed, Somerville, NJ) and roughly as safe. Of the respondents who expressed an opinion, a majority (54%) thought marijuana should be available by prescription. These results bear on the question of whether marijuana has a "currently accepted medical use," at issue in an ongoing administrative and legal dispute concerning whether marijuana in smoked form should be available by prescription along with synthetic THC in oral form. This survey demonstrates that oncologists' experience with the medical use of marijuana is more extensive, and their opinions of it are more favorable, than the regulatory authorities appear to have believed.
