Masses and magnetic moments of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] resonances are calculated employing the hyperspherical approach. We extend our scheme to obtain the helicity amplitudes and transition magnetic moments of the [Formula: see text] process. We also compute the radiative decay widths and branching ratios of [Formula: see text] baryons. A comparison of our results with the predictions obtained in recent theoretical models is also presented.

Magnetic moments of the octet baryons are computed using lattice QCD in background magnetic fields, including the first treatment of the magnetically coupled ∑0- ⋀ system. Although the computations are performed for relatively large values of the up and down quark masses, we gain new insight into the symmetries and relations between magnetic moments by working at a three-flavor mass-symmetric point. While the spinflavor symmetry in the large Nc limit of QCD is shared by the naïve constituent quark model, we find instances where quark model predictions are considerably favored over those emerging in the large Nc limit. We suggest further calculations that would shed light on the curious patterns of baryon magnetic moments.

Magnetic moments of the positive parity 70-plet baryons are estimated in the framework of the nonrelativistic quark model and QCD sum rules method. It is found that the magnetic moments of the 70-plet baryons can be expressed in terms of theFandDcouplings and exhibit unitary symmetry. The QCD sum rules for the magnetic moments of the 70-plet octet baryons are formulated. A comparison of our results on magnetic moments of 56-plet and 70-plet baryons predicted from QCD sum rules is presented.
