This study is an empirical analysis of China’s “sustainable development ability of water cultural industry” based on the attributes of water cultural industry (economic attribute and cultural ideology). First, using “factor analysis” and “grey relational analysis theory,” establish an indicator-system for the level of sustainable development of the cultural industry, then quantify the relationships between the water cultural industry and its influencing factors, and finally, propose some solutions for enhancing the sustainable development of the water cultural industry from the perspective of “improving resiliency.”

The modern stage of civilizational processes puts forward "sustainable development" as the fundamental goal, considering this the most important vector of promising transformations of human society. This stage of globalization development reveals the need to make the above processes not spontaneous, but controlled, which can be implemented, inter alia, through a qualitative transformation of tools and technologies used to monitor and predict the development of individual territories. The article presents a methodology for a comprehensive assessment of the investment attractiveness of a region using methods of integrated statistical assessment, including methods of descriptive analysis, and using the method of factor analysis. This method allows monitoring the level of development of information and communication technologies in the region as a whole, as well as in the context of individual types of economic activity in order to determine the main points of bifurcation for the concentration of financial resources in the development of ICT and increase the investment potential of the region as a whole.

Abstract The paper reports research employing a quantitative approach to investigating the competences of university students about educating for sustainable development (ESD). Participants were 467 bachelor students of the following five areas: social sciences, educational sciences, applied sciences, engineering and health sciences. The Student Survey of Education for Sustainable Development Competencies was employed. Internal consistency and factor structure of this questionnaire were investigated by assessing Cronbach’s alphas and by performing exploratory factor analysis. Data were subjected to ANOVA for comparing the students of the five faculties. The relevance of factors and the differences between students of different areas were discussed considering also how to infuse ESD principles in university curricula. The aim is reorienting university study programmes in various faculties to prepare students about sustainable development issues.

The article concretizes the social position of the regional agrarian elite in the system of sustainable development of rural areas on the basis of factor analysis carried out by the method of principal components. A survey of 73 leaders and chief specialists of successful agricultural organizations in the South of Russia, traditionally represented by rural areas, was carried out in October-November, 2020 using Google Forms. The data was processed in SPSS Statistics (version 21) and used the Sustainable Development Goals proclaimed by the UN in 2015 as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Seventeen Sustainable Development Goals were assessed on a five-point scale of significance in terms of relevance for agricultural organizations in rural areas of southern Russia. The assessments show the social position of the regional agrarian elite regarding the goal-setting in the field of sustainable development, both in rural areas and agricultural organizations. Factor analysis was carried out by the method of separation of the main components with Varimax Rotation with Kaiser Normalization. We present the models of the regional agrarian elite’s social position in the system of sustainable development of territories.

This article first investigates the status of financial cloud development in smart cities and studies the sustainable development of smart cities. Secondly, it investigates the construction of the evaluation model, using the power of the financial cloud, through exploratory factor analysis, selecting the principal component analysis method to extract the factors, for screening and dimensionality reduction of the indicators, and making hypotheses. We used confirmatory factor analysis to establish the structural equation. The measurement model analyzes and validates the assumptions of the previous stage and finally determines the sustainable development evaluation index system. Then, starting from the scoring coefficient matrix of the exploratory factor analysis of the final model, the variance contribution rate of each common factor is weighted to construct a comprehensive evaluation model to calculate the comprehensive evaluation score. For the comprehensive evaluation score of the sustainable development level of the smart city, SPSS software performs cluster analysis, performs regional clustering, and determines the level of urban development. Finally, by comparing the sustainable development levels of smart cities, the related causes of the gaps are analyzed. Key factors affecting the sustainable development of smart cities are identified, and corresponding countermeasures are proposed.

The paper compares frequently used methods for sustainable development assessing. We studied the systems of sustainable development indicators for assessing its individual areas (in particular, economic, environmental and social), and also analyzed aggregate indices designed for a comprehensive assessment of development both at the macro level and at the level of specific individual territorial units. For each methodology, the structures of index systems were presented with their breakdown into spheres and blocks / categories, and the main disadvantages of each methodology were determined. Among the methodologies considered are the following: the methodology proposed by the Global Biopact, indicator systems from the OECD Green Growth Strategy and World Bank indicators. The work carried out a structural analysis and explored the content of aggregated indices: Social Progress Index, Environmental Efficiency Index, Global Climate Change Adaptation Index and Human Development Index. The listed systems of indicators and indices are used at the global level, their use for Ukraine needs to be adapted. The adaptation of such techniques to the Ukrainian realities was shown on the example of a system of indicators based on the goals of sustainable development. Each goal has a number of tasks, the implementation of which is necessary to achieve it. For each task, several indicators are proposed for assessing the level of their implementation, an analysis of these indicators showed that for Ukraine, metadata has not been defined for indicators for most of the goals. In the above methods, indicators for assessing the bioeconomic direction (with the exception of biodiversity) are almost not presented, therefore, the development of a model for assessing the biosocial economy requires the inclusion of indicators characterizing bioresources, biotechnologies, and bioenergy. Faced with increasingly serious environmental problems, promoting EVs (electric vehicles) has become an important means of sustainable development. In 2017, EV sales accounted for more than half of the world’s total. Although the speed of development is fast, the ownership remains low. In 2017, the market share of EVs in China was only 2.7%. At present, there are few studies on the promotion of EVs. This study seeks to contribute to the organic combination of consumer behavioral characteristics and EV market cultivation. Based on the analysis of relevant research at home and abroad, the consumer behavior of EVs is investigated and the factor analysis is used to simplify the feature categories, in order to obtain consumers’ behavior characteristics of EVs. According to the characteristics of consumer behavior of EVs, suggestions are put forward to cultivate EV market from the aspects of existent technology and potential future technology of EVs.
