Abstract The NQR line shapes of 209Bi in the α-Bi2O3-based mixed oxides Bi2O3 • 2M2O3 (M = Al, Ga). Bi2O3 • 3GeO2, and 2Bi2O3 • 3GeO2 are recorded in zero and weak magnetic fields (Hext < 500 Oe) and compared with the results of computer simulation. Splittings and line shape asymmetry, exhibited by the resonances, suggest that internal magnetic fields, similar to those earlier reported for α-Bi2O3 and Bi3O4Br, may exist in these compounds. In the spectra of single crystal Bi4Ge3O12, the line multiplicity in external magnetic fields is higher than simulated, which might results from domains in the crystal. In external magnetic fields a notable increase in the line intensity was observed, the effect depending on the mutual orientation of the EFG axes and the fields perturbing the nuclear spin system.

The coprecipitation method has been used to synthesize layered double hydroxide (Zn-Fe-LDH) nanostructure at different Zn2+/Fe3+molar ratios. The structural properties of samples were studied using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). LDH samples were calcined at 600°C to produce mixed oxides (ZnO and ZnFe2O4). The crystallite size of mixed oxide was found in the nanometer scale (18.1 nm for ZnFe2O4and 43.3 nm for ZnO). The photocatalytic activity of the calcination products was investigated using ultraviolet-visible-near infrared (UV-VIS-NIR) diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The magnetic properties of calcined LDHs were investigated using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The calcined samples showed a paramagnetic behavior for all Zn2+/Fe3+molar ratios. The effect of molar ratio on magnetic susceptibility of the calcined samples was also studied.

ZnCr 1-x Fe x O 4 system (with x = 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2) at the nanoscale has been successfully synthesized by a simple combination of milling mixture of Zn , Cr , and Fe oxides precursors. X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements were carried out on the as-milled powders. XRD pattern clearly shows that the mixed oxides are all nanosized. However, as Fe 2 O 3 increases the ZnCrFeO 4 phase becomes the main phase. However, magnetic measurements do not show any significance in saturation magnetization (Ms), only when the content of Fe becomes 50% and 0.75% the Ms increased drastically to 15.4 and 16.7 emu/g respectively. However, with Fe 75% He and Mr reduced abruptly to half of their values, showing a ferromagnetic behaviour with low He .

Amorphous materials are of current interest due to their desirable mechanical, electrical and magnetic properties. Furthermore, crystallizing amorphous alloys provides an avenue for discerning sequential and competitive phases thus allowing access to otherwise inaccessible crystalline structures. Previous studies have shown the benefits of using AEM to determine crystal structures and compositions of partially crystallized alloys. The present paper will discuss the AEM characterization of crystallized Cu-Ti and Ni-Ti amorphous films.Cu60Ti40: The amorphous alloy Cu60Ti40, when continuously heated, forms a simple intermediate, macrocrystalline phase which then transforms to the ordered, equilibrium Cu3Ti2 phase. However, contrary to what one would expect from kinetic considerations, isothermal annealing below the isochronal crystallization temperature results in direct nucleation and growth of Cu3Ti2 from the amorphous matrix.
