Kata kunci: Gelombang permukaan plasma; plasma hanyut; peranti THz; GaAs; HEMT Plasma waves are oscillations of electron density in time and space, and in deep submicron field effect transistors, typical plasma frequencies, ωp, lie in the terahertz (THz) range and do not involve any quantum transitions. Hence, using plasma wave excitation for detection and/or generation of THz oscillations is a very promising approach. In this paper, the investigation of plasma wave interaction between the plasma waves propagating in a short–channel High–Electron–Mobility Transistor (HEMT) and that of the radiated electromagnetic waves was carried out. Experimentally, we have demonstrated the detection of the terahertz (THz) radiation by an AlGaAs/GaAs HEMT up to third harmonic at room temperature and their resonant responses show very good agreement with the calculated results. Key words: Surface plasma waves; drift plasma; THz device, GaAs; HEMT

Plasma waves can play an important role in the evolution of the solar wind and the particle velocity distribution functions in particular. We analyzed the electromagnetic waves observed above a few Hz by the Radio Plasma Waves (RPW) instrument suite onboard Solar Orbiter, during its first orbit, which covered a distance from the Sun between 1 AU and 0.5 AU. We identified the majority of the detected waves as whistler waves with frequency around 0.1 f_ce and right handed circular polarisation. We found these waves to be mostly aligned or anti aligned with the ambient magnetic field, and rarely oblique. We also present and discuss their direction of propagation and the variation of the waves' properties with heliocentric distance.

AbstractThe concept of informativeness of nonlinear plasma physical scenario is discussed. Basic principles for heightening the informativeness of plasma kinetic models are explained. Formerhigh-informative correlation analysis of plasma kinetics(Erofeev, V. 2011High-Informative Plasma Theory, Saarbrücken: LAP) is generalized for studies of weakly turbulent plasmas that contain fields of solenoidal plasma waves apart from former potential ones. Respective machinery of plasma kinetic modeling is applied to an analysis of fusion of Langmuir waves with transformation to electromagnetic waves. It is shown that the customary version of this phenomenon (Terashima, Y. and Yajima, N. 1963Prog. Theor. Phys.30, 443; Akhiezer, I. A., Danelia, I. A. and Tsintsadze, N. L. 1964Sov. Phys. JETP19, 208; Al'tshul', L. M. and Karpman, V. I. 1965Sov. Phys. JETP20, 1043) substantially distorts the picture of merging of Langmuir waves with long wavelengths (λ ≳c/ωpe).

In this paper possible causes of line splitting in emission near the local plasma frequency are considered in connection with drift pair solar radio bursts. The basic model envisaged for the bursts involves a bunch of electrons streaming through the solar corona at several times the thermal velocity of electrons. The emission process assumed is the transformation of coherently generated electron plasma waves (I-waves) into electromagnetic waves (t-waves) with little change in frequency.
