The work is devoted to the technology for the reduction of molybdenum from oxides by the method of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis in the MoO3 AI system with the addition of aluminum. The experiment was carried out in two modes: in a reactor at different pressures without preliminary heating and in a furnace in air until the initiation of the SH-synthesis process. Samples of molybdenum metal were obtained in different synthesis modes. X-ray phase and X-ray spectral analysis showed that molybdenum is the main phase in the synthesized samples. The presence of slag oxide phases Al2O3 and MoO2 was detected.

Silicon-silicon carbide (Si-SiC) composite powders were synthesized by in-situ self- propagating high-temperature synthesis using rice husk ash (RHA)/carbon/Mg as precursors in argon atmosphere. The as-SHS powders were leached by two leaching steps. The microstructure and chemical composition of the obtained Si-SiC composite powders were examined using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and x-ray diffractometer (XRD), respectively.

The steel substrate was coated by Fe-based composite using self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) reaction of reactant coating paste. The green paste was prepared by mixing precursor powders of Al, Fe2O3and Al2O3. It was coated on the steel substrate before igniting by oxy-acetylene flame. The effect of coating paste thickness and the additives on the resulted Fe-based composite coating was studied. The composite coating was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) couple with dispersive X-ray (EDS).

A structure of Ti-TiC coatings with different content of titanium binder, overlaid of composite powders, which were obtained by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis, was investigated. The structure was studied by X-ray analysis and metallography. A size of the carbide particles in coatings, hardness of coatings and rate of wear were measured.

A moderately high-yield, high temperature synthesis of the title compound is reported. Crystals of tris[(3,5-dimethylpyrazolato-N1,N2)copper(I)] are triclinic, a = 12.360(4), b = 14.637(4), c = 12.358(4) Å, α = 105.29(2), β = 119.83(2), γ = 93.99(3)°, Z = 4 (trimers, two per asymmetric unit), space group [Formula: see text]. The structure was solved by heavy atom methods and was refined by full-matrix least-squares procedures to R = 0.034 and Rw = 0.038 for 3877 reflections with I ≥ 3σ(I). The structure consists of trimeric molecules with an unusually short average Cu—N distance of 1.852 Å. The central Cu3N6 nine-membered rings are planar to within 0.07 Å. The trimer units are linked in pairs about centres of symmetry by weak [Formula: see text] interactions averaging 2.946 Å. Keywords: pyrazolato copper (I) timer, copper (I) pyrazolate.
