The blast-furnace slag (BFS)has been characterized by chemical and phase composition to evaluate its hydration reactivity. It has high potential activity for its glassy structure, so its use to prepare new filling cementation material is possible. New backfilling cementation material composition has been formulated and optimized by activation of BFS. The optimal formula of new backfilling cementation material SL(Slag activated by lime) and SLG(Slag activated by lime and desulfurization gypsum) was 87% BFS, 13% lime and 78.4% BFS, 11.8% lime, 9.8% desulfurization gypsum respectively. Finally, the feature of application performance was analyzed through comparison between new cementation material and ordinary Portland cement with paste and sand mortar experiment. The result showed that material SL and SLG have superior performance to ordinary Portland cement used to mining cemented filling.

CdS nanocrystallites with different morphologies have solvothermally prepared with ethylenediamine (en) and glycol as solvents. Solvent-dependent experiments were carried out by adjusting the ratios of en/glycol to investigate the effects of the solvents on the product phase formation and morphology. It was found that the morphology of CdS nanocrystallite develops from a rough spherical nanoparticle to a rod-, twinrod-, and tetrapod-shaped nanoparticle by increasing the ratio of en/glycol, meanwhile the phase composition changes from coexistence of tetragonal zinc blende CdS and hexagonal wurtzite CdS to pure hexagonal wurtzite CdS. Based on the experimental results, a possible shape evolution mechanism of CdS nanocrystallites is simply discussed.

The aim of this research was to continue an examination of influence of mineral components of blast furnace sinters on their quality. Two of reduction-disintegration indices RDI were taken into account: static resistance to degradation RDI-1+6.3 and static susceptibility to degradation RDI-1-3.15. X-ray diffraction was used for phase identification and the Rietveld method was applied to study quantitative dependence. Static susceptibility to degradation RDI-1-3.15 showed clearly dependence on quantitative mineral composition, namely on quantities of magnetite, silicates and slag phases. Static resistance to degradation RDI-1+6.3 was also dependent on fractions of magnetite and silicates.

The paper deals with the structure and phase composition of non-autoclave aerated concrete with a density of 600–800 kg m–3 using ferrosilicon as a gasifier. The conditions of formation of porous structure of aerated concrete and preparation of calcium hydrosilicates were considered. Phase composition of the samples was investigated by means of X-ray phase analysis and differential thermal analysis. Analysis of X-ray patterns showed that the test samples contained tobermorite 11.3 Å (5CaO6SiO25.5H2O), xonotlite (6CaO6SiO2H2O) and -dicalcium silicate hydrate (2CaOSiO2H2O) as a binder. It was established that there is an increase in the content of hydrosilicate phases with an increase in the content of gasifier in the vast majority of cases. The obtained data were confirmed by the results of differential thermal analysis.
