Abstract     Almsgiving is one of the pillars supporting the upholding of Islam as the obligation for the adherents to improve horizontal relations between fellow humans and strengthen vertical relations with Allah SWT. The implementation of Islamic Social Responsibility (ISR) of the Islamic Bank gives a positive assessment in sharia agreement, justice and equality, responsibility for work, welfare, guarantee of nature preservation and benevolent assistance that is not profit-oriented.Proper almsgiving management and ISR implementation make Islamic banks trusted by the public in terms of service quality, satisfaction and loyalty of Muzzaki. It reduces bad images, and provides relevant impacts on social welfare and the progress of the era. The data analysis used to test the hypotheses is Multiple Linear Regression analysis. The data is collected by distributing questionnaires to Commissioners and Directors at 14 (fourteen) Islamic Commercial Banks spread throughout Indonesia. The result of this study shows partially prove the role of Islamic bank commissioners in the amsgiving management only, while the importance of the role of directors in Islamic banks in almsgiving management and the implementation of ISR partially. Keywords: Islamic Bank, Commissioners, Directors, Almsgiving and ISR

This short epilogue takes the story of the leading colonialists into the post-1945 period and assesses the historiographical narrative of post-war colonial amnesia. This amnesia did not begin in 1945, however, but in the 1930s and 1940s through the work of colonialists. In their efforts to situate overseas colonialism within the needs of the present and of value for the future, colonialists had created an overly positive narrative that emphasized an inherent German aptitude for administering Africa. After the war, these ideals could find expression through development or nature preservation, even though (or perhaps because) they no longer bore a specific association with Germany’s past of formal colonialism.

This article presents a historical analysis of human impact and further step-by-step nature reserve creation within the territory of the current Visimsky State Biosphere Reserve. From the end of XVII to the middle of XX centuries the ecosystem of low-mountain southern taiga forests in the Middle Ural region was strongly exploited by a local mining and metallurgical industry. The establishment of the Visim State Reserve in 1946 did not provide sustainable results but initiated research studies that laid a foundation for a subsequent preservation and the studies of the endemic taiga forests of the Middle Ural in the framework of the modern Visimsky State Biosphere Reserve. Since 1975 the science department of the reserve has conducted regular observations of the nature processes. The reserve has established long-term and efficient collaboration with the Institute of Ecology of Animals and Plants, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The joint research findings are used in practical solutions of the nature preservation in the region. This collaboration is also focused on the monitoring of the recreational pressure caused by the educational tourism.

The Climate change in world tourism can change the system of human life and its influence on nature. The development of the global digital tourism climate, selfi tourism is able to change the attitude of individual behavior in response to the demands of competitive life. The development of tourist destinations in the world, primarily from natural factors, the demands of a sharp competitive climate require tourism managers to create artificial innovations that are developed from natural potentials that are more attractive in design so that they become alternative ecotourism idols capable of boosting tourism growth that is more conducive and attractive. This research develops river ecotourism areas which are oriented to aspects of environmental development, nature preservation and local community development. This study uses qualitative research so that it can explore various aspects of the natural and humanity of the region in depth through the empirical phenomena that exist in the field. The real condition of river area which is not well managed is not in accordance with the development of Smart city, community awareness and tourism activists who are less focused. Hence, it needs community empowerment and encouraging the role of tourism activists to play more in the development of urban areas, and the use of river as ecotourism.   Keywords: Ecotourism, Waterfront, Natural Resources

Problems of nature preservation in British territories of central America may be clearly divided between continental countries, British Honduras and British Guiana on the one hand, and the islands on the other; although the fauna of Trinidad and Tobago has much in common with that of the South American continent. The islands of the Greater and Lesser Antilles have been separated long enough from the mainland and from each other, for them to have developed their own plants and animals. Common to continental and island countries, however, are the migratory shore birds of the western hemisphere.

National parks and other preserved spaces of nature have become iconic symbols of nature protection around the world. However, the worldviews of Indigenous peoples have been marginalized in discourses of nature preservation and conservation. As a result, for generations of Indigenous peoples, these protected spaces of nature have meant dispossession, treaty violations of hunting and fishing rights, and the loss of sacred places. Bridging Cultural Concepts of Nature brings together anthropologists and archaeologists, historians, linguists, policy experts, and communications scholars to discuss differing views and presents a compelling case for the possibility of more productive discussions on the environment, sustainability, and nature protection. Drawing on case studies from Scandinavia to Latin America and from North America to New Zealand, the volume challenges the old paradigm where Indigenous peoples are not included in the conservation and protection of natural areas and instead calls for the incorporation of Indigenous voices into this debate. This original and timely edited collection offers a global perspective on the social, cultural, economic, and environmental challenges facing Indigenous peoples and their governmental and NGO counterparts in the co-management of the planet’s vital and precious preserved spaces of nature.

Kentrung art is one of arts that exist on Jepara coast. This is a speech art played by two people using beaten instruments such as terbang or tambourines. Kentrung is not only a fiction for entertainment, but also contains a pasemon (parable) or human life symbols. This art center is located in Ngasem village, Batealit, Jepara. Kentrung proponents are elderly or old people (wong lawas) who activate kentrung art in Jepara. Old people is as a representation of ancient people or the people who do not following the times. As the older person, one of their life view is to respect nature preservation. Their respect for the environment is reflected in the activities that are often asked to perform in earth alms events considered at the time of alms and the insertion of kentrung stories that are often delivered between the plays that are being performed. Even though it is not dominant, love expression of the performer and the arts towards the environment is seen in the insertion of the stage.

A economia popular e solidária se opõe à superexploração do trabalho e à exploração dos recursos naturais efetivadas de maneira predatória como vem historicamente ocorrendo. Essa economia busca, entretanto, promover o desenvolvimento local e o crescimento socioeconômico em harmonia com proteção à natureza. A alimentação da humanidade atualmente se limita a apenas cerca de 110 espécies vegetais. Enquanto isso, muitas espécies ruderais, também consideradas invasoras ou pragas, além de importância ecológica, apresentam potencial alimentício, muitas vezes, já comprovado através de estudos. Em que pese a pouca divulgação desses dados, estima-se que o número dessas espécies possa chegar a 10.000. Nesse contexto, a presente pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar a relação entre a economia popular e solidária e as plantas alimentícias não convencionais (PANC) numa perspectiva do desenvolvimento local. Metodologicamente, adotamos a pesquisa-ação, inerente aos trabalhos orientados pelo Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Economia Popular e Solidária e Desenvolvimento Local (GEPOSDEL), base dos trabalhos da Incubadora de Iniciativas de Economia Popular e Solidária da UEFS (IEPS-UEFS), articulada à disciplina Comercialização e Economia Solidária. Como resultados da pesquisa, inferimos que as PANC se consubstanciam como um dos principais elementos endógenos promissores do desenvolvimento local, elemento fundamental de uma outra economia, uma economia plural e protagonizada por pessoas, a economia popular e solidária.   Abstract The popular and solidary economy goes against the overexploitation of work and the exploitation of natural resources carried out in a predatory way as it has been historically happening. This economy, however, seeks to promote local development and socioeconomic growth in harmony with nature preservation. The human diet is restricted to about 110 plant species. Meanwhile, many ruderal species, also considered invasive or pests have an ecological importance, as well as nutritional potential, which has already been proven through scientific studies. Despite the limited circulation of these data, it is estimated that the number of these species may reach 10,000. In this way, this research aims to analyze the relationship between the popular and solidary economy and non-conventional food plants (PANC) in a perspective of local development. To do so, we applied the action research methodology, essential to the work guided by the Group of Studies and Research in Solidary and Popular Economy and Local Development.  (GEPOSDEL), which articulated to the discipline of Commercialization and Solidarity Economy, is the bases for the Popular and Solidarity Economy Initiatives Incubator of UEFS (IEPS-UEFS). As a result of the research, we infer that the PANCs are consubstantiated as one of the main promising endogenous elements of local development, a fundamental element of another economy, a plural economy and protagonized by people, the popular and solidary economy. Albert Hochbaum, whom we met in Chapter 3, was Leopold’s student and friend; Director of the Delta Duck Station in Manitoba, Canada; and a part-time collaborator on A Sand County Almanac. He also had an admirable talent for succinctly hitting the nail on the head. He summed up Leopold’s message in four words. “The lesson you wish to put across is the lesson that must be taught,” he said, “preservation of the natural.” So much for succinctness; the difficult problem, of course, is to explain what is meant by “preservation” and by “natural.” Thomas McNamee, writing forty years later, uses the same basic approach: “I believe that the true object of conservation is nature,” he says. “What is nature?” The answer cannot help but be complicated, he notes, because “our conception of nature springs from the darkest depths of our culture’s unconscious sense of life itself, and ancient irrational urges and fears give the concept its power.’” But that is only half of the story: “At the same time,” he says, “nature must also have an objective, rational, manageable, thinkable value.” And thus we have the paradox of modern land use theory: Americans love nature; our values were formed in nature’s womb, a huge, wonderful, and horrible wild place. Our values are freedom and independence, “split rail values,” as Leopold called them. But our activities, as builders and consumers, transform our environment into something not-wild; we manipulate and control and artificialize nature; we make it not-nature. As the song says, you always hurt the one you love. But the paradox has also an optimistic face: As we have built and consumed, we have become wealthy by exploiting nature. Wildness has become valuable, objectively, according even to economists, because our wealthy society is now willing to pay to preserve nature. But here is the bitter pill to swallow: We all must admit that, at least in some sense, “nature” preservation is a sham—we’ve gone too far to “free” nature, as we might free a wild animal, release it from captivity.
