The study aim was evaluation of the usefulness of several thermostable DNA polymerases in real time PCR conducted in the presence of the heme. Our study had the advantage of testing several different polymerases, one of which proved to be the least sensitive to heme activity. We also found that there is no need of supplementing the reaction mixture with protective substances like BSA. Selection of the appropriate polymerase can increase the efficiency of the PCR reaction which is very important for diagnosis of sepsis and for other analyses performed on DNA template isolated from the blood.

The incorporation of wind energy as a non-conventional energy source has received a lot of attention. The selection of wind turbine (WT) prototypes and their installation based on assessment and analysis is considered as a major problem. This paper focuses on addressing the aforementioned issues through a Weibull distribution technique based on five different methods. The accurate results are obtained by considering the real-time data of a particular site located in the coastal zone of Pakistan. Based on the computations, it is observed that the proposed site has most suitable wind characteristics, low turbulence intensity, wind shear exponent located in a safe region, adequate generation with the most adequate capacity factor and wind potential. The wind potential of the proposed site is explicitly evaluated with the support of wind rose diagrams at different heights. The energy generated by ten different prototypes will suggest the most optimum and implausible WT models. Correspondingly, the most capricious as well as optimal methods are also classified among the five Weibull parameters. Moreover, this study provides a meaningful course of action for the selection of a suitable site, WT prototype and parameters evaluation based on the real-time data for powering local communities.

AbstractThe research now under way with the real-time 275 km Parkes-Tidbinbila interferometer is used as a guide to the initial science to be undertaken with the 319 km Australia Telescope (AT) Long Baseline Array. On the other hand, it is risky to guess at the new science likely to be attempted with the 6 km AT Compact Array at Culgoora; instead the potential that has been built into this array is discussed and a selection of basic questions in astrophysics is posed as a guide to significant science that might yield to new observers on a fresh instrument under the southern skies. In conclusion two questions are probed: Can discoveries be made by users of national facilities? Does the AT cross into new domains in the phase space of observations?
