Ecological studies on the Nepenthes species at Barito Ulu, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia were conducted between August 2005 and September 2006. Surveys and two small plot inventories were used to determine the diversity and population of Nepenthes at the study site. We found eight Nepenthes species around the BaritoUlu study area: N. albomarginata, N. ampullaria, N. gracilis, N. hirsuta, N. rafflesiana, N. reinwardtiana, N. stenophylla, and N. hispida. Plot A was dominated by N. rafflesiana with one other species found; whilst in plot B we found five species but it was also dominated by N. rafflesiana. In plot A, the one year stem length growth rate of N. albomarginata was faster than N. rafflesiana (5.0 and 3.5 cm respectively). While in plot B, N. gracilis (21.7 cm) and N. reinwardtiana (13.1 cm) showed faster growth rates than N. albomarginata (5.2 cm), N. rafflesiana (7.0 cm) and N. stenophylla (8.5 cm). Generally, the habitat of Nepenthes in the study site is heath forest.

Ikan koi di Indonesia merupakan ikan hias favorit dan banyak digemari masyarakat luas karena tubuhnya yang mempesona dan harganya relatif tidak terlalu mahal. Ikan koi sekarang ini masih menjadi salah satu komoditas perdagangan yang cukup baik dalam bidang perikanan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Pengaruh  Ekstrak Kasar Buah Pala Myristica Argentea  Terhadap Pertumbuhan Ikan Koi Cyprinus Caprio. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) ,dengan empat perlakuan dan tiga ulangan yaitu perlakuan A (Dosis 5% ekstrak kasar  buah pala), perlakuan B (Dosis 10% ekstrak kasar buah pala), perlakuan C (Dosis 15% ekstrak kasar buah pala) dan perlakuan D (   Dosis 0 % ekstrak kasar buah pala). Parameter uji berupa lajui pertumhuhan bobot dan pertumbuhan panjang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak Kasar Daging Buah Pala myristica argentea memberikan pengaruh yang baik terhadap pertumbuhan ikan ko setelah diberikan perlakuan.. Dosis yang baik untuk pertumbuhan berat dan panjang ikan koi ialah dosis  10% - 5%. Koi fish in Indonesia is a favorite ornamental fish and much-loved by the wider community because of its charming body and relatively inexpensive price. Koi fish is still one of the trade commodities that is quite good in the field of fisheries. The purpose of this study was to determine the Effect of Crude Extract of Nutmeg Myristica Argentea on the Growth of Cyprinus Caprio Koi Fish. The research method used was a completely randomized design (CRD), with four treatments and three replications, namely treatment A (5% dose of nutmeg crude extract), treatment B (10% dose of nutmeg crude extract), treatment C (15% dose of nutmeg extract). crude nutmeg) and treatment D (Dose of 0% crude extract of nutmeg). Test parameters in the form of weight growth rate and length growth. The results showed that the crude extract of the Nutmeg myristica argentea had a good effect on the growth of koi fish after being given treatment. A good dose for the growth of weight and length of koi fish is a dose of 10% - 5%

Sheep receiving a diet consisting solely of wheat (500 g/day), supplemented with a mineral mixture, were given abomasal infusions of varying amounts of DL-methionine (1.5–6.0 g/day) or of L-cystine (5 g/day). Other sheep received DL-methionine as a supplement to a roughage diet. All levels of methionine infused caused a decrease in the mass of wool grown by sheep consuming the wheat diet. This effect was greatest with 6 g methionine and was due mainly to a considerable depression of fibre diameter. Smaller amounts of methionine decreased fibre diameter and increased length growth rate. The infusion of methionine caused a considerable weakening of the wool grown by most of the sheep, with the result that a 'break' was observed in the fleece after about 1 week of methionine administration. This effect occurred with all levels of methionine but was more pronounced with 6 g/day. The abomasal infusion of cystine (5 g/day) caused little change in the mass of wool grown, but fibre diameter was decreased slightly. There were no appreciable effects on the strength of wool fibres and no wool was shed. Supplementation of the roughage diet (400 g/day) with methionine at 2 g/day stimulated wool growth, whereas with 6 or 10 g/day the mass of wool grown was unchanged but fibre diameter was markedly reduced. The strength of wool fibres was not markedly influenced by methionine infusions on this diet. The levels of amino acids in blood plasma and in abomasal digesta indicated that the mixture of amino acids absorbed was similar with both the roughage and the wheat diets.

Root growth and morphology were assessed weekly in hydroponically-grown seedlings of the halophyte Plantago maritima L. during exposure to 0, 50, 100 and 200 mm NaCl for 21 d. Relative growth rate was reduced by 25% at 200 mm NaCl. The lower NaCl treatments did not affect relative growth rates. Primary and lateral roots responded differently to NaCl. While primary-root length increased at all NaCl concentrations, total lateral-root length increased at 50 and was not affected at 100 mm but was considerably reduced at 200 mm NaCl. NaCl concentrations of 50 and 100 mm, which had no effect on relative growth rate or total lateral-root length, severely affected root branching pattern in that the number of first, second and third order laterals was reduced. At 200 mm NaCl third order laterals were not formed at all. However, mean lateral-root length was increased at all NaCl concentrations and was highest at 200 mm NaCl. We conclude that the increase in total lateral-root length in plants at 50 and 100 mm NaCl was mainly caused by increased length growth, while the decrease in total lateral-root length at 200 mm was the consequence of inhibition of lateral root primordia and / or the activation of apical meristems rather than reduced length growth.

Monte Carlo method is used to capture the evolution of spherulites and shish-kebabs and to predict the crystallization kinetics in isothermal polymer crystallization. Effects of nucleation density and growth rate of spherulites, nucleation density, and length growth rate of shish-kebabs, respectively, on crystallization are investigated. Results show that nucleation densities of both spherulites and shish-kebabs strongly affect crystallization rate as well as morphology. An increase in nucleation density of either spherulites or shish-kebabs leads to a quicker crystallization rate and a smaller average spherulite size. It is also shown that nucleation density of shish-kebabs has a stronger impact on crystallization rate. Growth rate of spherulites and length growth rate of shish-kebabs also have significant effect on crystallization rate and morphology. An increase in growth rate of spherulites or length growth rate of shish-kebabs also speeds up the crystallization rate; additionally, a decrease in growth rate of spherulites or an increase in length growth rate of shish-kebabs results in a more highly anisotropic shish-kebab structure and a smaller average size of spherulites. Results also show that the effect of growth rate of spherulites is more important than the effect of length growth rate of shish-kebabs on crystallization.

AbstractPolyamines (putrescine, spermidine and spermine) are required for optimal growth in all cells, and are essential for cell proliferation and growth of cultured wool follicles, with an optimal concentration of spermidine required for the fibre elongation. The effects of a local supply of exogenous spermidine on the rate of cell division in the wool follicles, the length growth rate and diameter of fibres were therefore examined in Merino lambs. Three groups of eight lambs (40 kg) were given food at 1·2 ✕ maintenance. Spermidine was injected intradermally into a small patch (3 ✕ 3 cm) on the left flank three times per day for 7 days at one of three concentrations: 1·38, 2·75 or 4·58 џmol in 0·8 ml volume. The same volume of saline was injected into the contralateral side as a control. The concentration of spermidine in the skin patch 3 h after injection on day 7 increased by proportionately 018, 0·33 or 0·41 (P < 0001) respectively. The rates of cell division in the follicle bulb 3 h after the spermidine injection were proportionately 0104, 0184 and 0·283 higher compared with the contralateral side (P = 0078 overall) for the low, medium and high doses of spermidine respectively and differed between the three doses (P < 005). The fibre length growth rate, as measured using autoradiography, was proportionately 0099, 0117 and 0156 higher than that of the contralateral side (P < 0001 overall) for the low, medium and high doses of spermidine respectively, but differences between doses were not significant (P > 005). Spermidine injection did not result in a significant change in fibre diameter during the treatment period. The ratio of fibre length growth rate to fibre diameter was increased by the injection of spermidine (P < 0001). The results suggest that injecting extra spermidine into the skin altered spermidine homeostasis in the skin, stimulated cell proliferation and resulted in increased fibre growth.

This study aims to determine the growth of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) with the use of Azolla microphylla feed and its potential to produce a module design on the material for growth and development of living things in class XII odd semester KD 3.10 and KD 4.10.This research was conducted from May to August 2020 at Danau Selais LPPM Riau University. This study used 2 stages, namely. Phase I research used quantitative descriptive to determine the growth of tilapia on Azolla microphyla feed with different feeding percentages. Fish were grouped into 3 treatments and 1 control. Fish are reared in different cages with different percentage of feeding. The research parameters included absolute length growth, absolute weight growth, nisbi  growth rate, and survival rate.Phase II research is a module teaching material design that uses 2 stages, namely, the Analyze and Design stages.The results of the experimental stage of research, feeding Azolla microphylla affected the growth of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). P3 treatment (giving 5% Azolla microphylla from fish biomass) is the best dose in increasing the growth of tilapia. Resulted in the absolute length growth of 4.24 cm, absolute weight 11.72 g, 4.68% relative growth, 4,68% specific growth rate and 99.4% survival rate. The P3 treatment resulted in a growth which was much lower than the P0 treatment (control).

Spat supply for mussel farming in Morocco is essentially based on seed capture and collection from natural beds. However, natural irregularity recruitment in exploited areas and encountered difficulties during spat collection operations have led to develop and improve reproduction techniques under controlled conditions in hatcheries. The present study focused on the larvae phase aiming at assessing growth rate varies between different development stages. Trocophore larva stage had a size of 63.25 μm and reached the pedivilegere stage with a size of 272.56 μm in 18 culture days. Length growth was more significant than width growth for both H-batch and T-batch. For instance, larvae grew in terms of length quickly in H-batch than T-batch (11.10± 1.30 and 9.67 ± 1.17 μm day-1), and the same pattern was observed for T-batch larvae. Inversely, the total biomass consumed was higher during T-batch larvae rearing than H-batch ones. In contrast, the effect of feeding on growth was observed more significantly for H-batch larvae (t=7.55, df=23, p<0.001) than T-batch ones (t=4.13, df=23, p<0.001). However, the specific feeding effect was revealed higher for I. galbana for both batches rather than C. calcitrans and T. suecica. However, the larvae growth reduction is linked to the beginning of tissue synthesis.
