This paper focuses on the in-mold monitoring of temperature and cavity pressure. The melt contact temperature and the cavity pressure along the flow path were directly measured using two pressure sensors and two temperature sensors fitted into the cavity of a spiral mold. Three melt temperatures and dies of different heights (1.0, 1.5 and 2 mm) were used to achieve a wide range of practically relevant shear rates. In order to analyze the extent to which the numerical simulation can predict the behavior of the molten polymer during the injection molding process, molding experiments were simulated using the Moldflow software and the simulation results were compared with the experimental data under the same injection molding conditions.

The paper presents a micro-fluidics cooling system which is designed on a silicon substrate including a micro-pump, two temperature sensors, a flow sensor and some microchannels. To design the cooling system optimally, a finite element model is built. The temperature distribution on the silicon substrate is analyzed using the model. Moreover, the quantitative relation is given of the temperature distribution, flow velocity and driving capability of the micro pump. Consequently, the structure parameters and design requirements of the cooling system are obtained.

Detailed experimental study on the characteristics of false defrosting of a split type air-source heat pump (ASHP) has been made. The results show that the false defrosting is seriously detrimental to ASHP by comparing varied parameters of compressor such as shaft power, suction and discharge pressure, etc. in normal defrosting and false defrosting. This paper also analyzes a common defrosting control method for air conditioner of split ASHP room, i.e., with two temperature sensors set on indoor heat exchanger, the operating principle thereof and drawbacks in terms of causing false defrosting.

A dividing wall column (DWC) effectively intensifies the distillation process with a reduced energy consumption, capital investment, and space. The three-product DWC has been investigated intensively and extensively; however, the four-product Kaibel DWC has received scarce attention. This study aimed to propose feasible control structures for the Kaibel DWC using only temperature sensors in order to promote its industrialization. Two temperature control structures, two temperature difference control structures, and two double temperature difference control structures were studied. The feasibility of the six proposed control structures was verified with a wide variety of feed disturbances. In most cases, temperature difference control was better than temperature control to maintain product purities. The dynamic performances proved that the inserted feed disturbances were handled well. These results help to promote the industrialization of the Kaibel DWC.
