Following an introduction to the two e+e- B-factories, a sample of recent results from Belle and BABAR will be reported. This review will summarize results on the CKM unitarity angles and sides, the first direct observation of T-violation, measurements of the branching fraction of B- → τ-ντ and branching ratios of BF(B- → D(*)τ-ντ)/BF(B- → D(*)ℓ- νℓ), searches for low mass CP-odd Higgs bosons, lepton flavor violation in τ decays, and a precision measurement of the e+e- → K+K-(γ) cross-sections, and its impact on the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the theoretical calculation of the muon anomalous magnetic moment. Prospects for the future will be touched on.

The present constraints from electroweak radiative corrections suggest that the low mass region will be particularly interesting in future Higgs boson searches. In this paper, the discovery potential for a search of a low mass Standard Model Higgs boson, as well as the sensitivity to the lightest Higgs boson of the MSSM (h) are presented as a function of the collected luminosity, for the ATLAS experiment at the LHC.

Possible realistic scenarios are investigated in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) Higgs sector extended by dimension-six effective operators. The CP-odd Higgs boson with low mass around 30–90 GeV could be consistently introduced in the regime of large threshold corrections to the effective MSSM two-doublet Higgs potential.

AbstractEmission mechanisms of the iron Kα-lines in X-ray binaries are discussed in relation with the characteristic temperature Txof continuum radiation thereof. The 6.7 keV line is ascribed to radiative recombination followed by cascades in a corona of ∼ 100 eV formed above the accretion disk. This mechanism is attained for Tx≲ 10 keV as observed for low mass X-ray binaries. The 6.4 keV line observed for binary X-ray pulsars with Tx> 10 keV is likely due to fluorescence outside the He II ionization front.
