The effective chiral Lagrangian in both nonlocal form [Formula: see text] and standard local form [Formula: see text], derived in the vacuum correlator formalism in QCD, is studied in the chiral perturbation theory. It is shown, that all coefficients of [Formula: see text] can be computed via [Formula: see text] Green’s functions. In the [Formula: see text] order of [Formula: see text] one obtains GOR relations and quark decay constants [Formula: see text] are calculated [Formula: see text], while in the [Formula: see text] order the coefficients [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] are obtained in good agreement with the values given by data. The chiral quark model is shown to be a simple consequence of [Formula: see text] with defined coefficients. It is demonstrated that [Formula: see text] gives an extension of the limiting low-energy Lagrangian [Formula: see text] to arbitrary momenta.

We study the temperature behavior of light scalar and pseudoscalar meson masses within a three-flavor nonlocal chiral quark model that includes the coupling of quarks to the Polyakov loop. Chiral restoration and deconfinement transitions are described.
