Sexual and gender minority (SGM) young people are coming of age at a time of dynamic social and political changes with regard to LGBTQ rights and visibility around the world. And yet, contemporary cohorts of SGM youth continue to evidence the same degree of compromised mental health demonstrated by SGM youth of past decades. The authors review the current research on SGM youth mental health, with careful attention to the developmental and contextual characteristics that complicate, support, and thwart mental health for SGM young people. Given a large and rapidly growing body of science in this area, the authors strategically review research that reflects the prevalence of these issues in countries around the world but also concentrate on how mental health concerns among SGM children and youth are shaped by experiences with schools, families, and communities. Promising mental health treatment strategies for this population are reviewed. The chapter ends with a focus on understudied areas in the SGM youth mental health literature, which may offer promising solutions to combat SGM population health disparities and promote mental health among SGM young people during adolescence and as they age across the life course.

The article deals with the sociological research of European authors who dealt with the problem of suicidal behavior of adolescents and young people aged 14-24 years. Studying these studies, the article shows the psychosocial risk factors for suicide and suicidal behavior among progeny.

The results of sociological monitoring of the spread of addictive behavior among young people in Kharkiv "Youth and Drugs" and the results of the student module of Ukrainian Longitudinal study (ULS+) are presented. The "Youth and Drugs" study conducted since 1995 by the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs together with the Sociological Association of Ukraine with the support of the Department of Science and Education of Kharkiv Regional State Administration. The key indicators of drug, alcohol and tobacco use and misuse among young people, the prevalence of gambling, computer and Internet use, the structure of youth leisure, bullying, suicidal behavior, mental and behavioral disorders, etc. were analyzed. For educators, law enforcement, physicians, scientists and anyone interested in the prevention of addictive behavior.

ABSTRACTSuicide remains a leading cause of death among youth, and suicide ideation and behavior are relatively common in both normal and clinical populations. Clinicians working with young people must assess for the presence of suicidal ideation, suicidal behavior, and other risk factors, in order to determine the level of risk. This paper provides the clinician with a summary of risk factors for youth suicide, as well as providing standardized terminology to enhance assessment of suicidal ideation and behavior.

Background: Suicide is a worrying problem in Indonesia because of increase in case reported. There has been an increase in suicide rates both globally and in Indonesia. The negative stigma, lack of education, and lack of understanding of the role of the community make it difficult to reduce the number of suicides. This study aims to discuss mass therapeutic education for monitoring suicidal behavior in community. Method: Researchers used 15 journals and literature that discuss the impact and vulnerability of distance learning on students' mental health conditions. Conclusion: The role of society in reducing the suicide rate is very much needed. The community can help make early detection of suicide. Society can help prevent suicidal ideas from arising in those around them. The public can provide information to the authorities and give advice for suicide perpetrators to visit a health center. The role of the community can be integrated in a structured and neat system that can make suicide prevention efforts become optimal.

BACKGROUND Young people living with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) face a number of communication barriers for achieving optimal health as they transition from pediatric care into adult care. Despite growing interest in mobile or wireless technologies to support health (mHealth), it is uncertain how these engagement tools might support young people, their families, and care teams to optimize preference-based treatment strategies. OBJECTIVE This study aims to examine how an mHealth patient support system (mPSS) might foster partnership between young people living with JIA, their families, and care teams. METHODS Semistructured interviews with young people (5-15 years old), their families, and JIA care teams were conducted using researcher-developed interviews guides. Transcribed data were qualitatively analyzed using conventional content analysis. RESULTS We conducted semistructured interviews with 15 young people, their parents, and 4 care team members. Content analysis revealed the potential of an mPSS to support productive dialogue between families and care teams. We identified four main themes: (1) young people with JIA face communication challenges, (2) normalizing illness through shared experience may improve adherence, (3) partnership opens windows into illness experiences, and (4) readiness to engage appears critical for clinic implementation. CONCLUSIONS A human-centered mPSS design that offers JIA patients the ability to track personally relevant illness concerns and needs can enhance communication, generate consensus-based treatment decisions, and improve efficiency and personalization of care. Technology that supports continuous learning and promotes better understanding of disease management may reduce practice burden while increasing patient engagement and autonomy in fostering lasting treatment decisions and ultimately supporting personalized care and improving outcomes.

The objective of this study is to explore and to verify the utility of the five moral foundations (care, fairness, loyalty, authority, and purity) to differentiate between two understudied groups, namely, young offenders who use violence against their parents or dating partners, as well as to predict the extent to which these young people justify violence and perceive themselves as aggressive. Although both types of violence imply, by definition, harming someone (low care) and adopting a position of authority (high authority), we hypothesize a very different role for at least these two moral foundations. Our results support this idea and show a much lower regard for the five moral foundations, including care and authority, in the child-to-parent violence group (CPV; N = 65) than in the dating violence group (DV; N = 69). Additionally, the authority foundation was able to increase the effectiveness of correctly classifying the participants in one group or the other by 29%. Finally, care and authority, along with fairness, served to predict justification of violence and self-perceived aggressiveness. The moral foundations approach provides preliminary evidence to better understand two specific types of youth violence and extract preventive educational and treatment strategies.
