This paper proposes a measuring apparatus and method for simultaneous determination of the thermal expansion coefficient and biaxial Young’s modulus of indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films. ITO thin films simultaneously coated on N-BK7 and S-TIM35 glass substrates were prepared by direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering deposition. The thermo-mechanical parameters of ITO thin films were investigated experimentally. Thermal stress in sputtered ITO films was evaluated by an improved Twyman–Green interferometer associated with wavelet transform at different temperatures. When the heating temperature increased from 30 °C to 100 °C, the tensile thermal stress of ITO thin films increased. The increase in substrate temperature led to the decrease of total residual stress deposited on two glass substrates. A linear relationship between the thermal stress and substrate heating temperature was found. The thermal expansion coefficient and biaxial Young’s modulus of the films were measured by the double substrate method. The results show that the out of plane thermal expansion coefficient and biaxial Young’s modulus of the ITO film were 5.81 × 10−6 °C−1 and 475 GPa.

The crack resistance of concrete with crushed basalt aggregate was studied. Compared with the limestone concrete, the basalt concrete has larger drying shrinkage and autogenous volume deformation. The linear expansion coefficient of basalt concrete is 1.3×10-6 /°C larger than that of limestone concrete, and it has additional temperature deformation of 24.1×10-6. According to the analysis on temperature-stress of concrete, the cracking temperature of basalt concrete is 8.9°C higher than that of limestone concrete, and the crack resistance of basalt concrete is unfavorable.

The article provides the substantiation of the specific coefficient of corrosion influence, considered per unit of the limit of short-term strength of the metal, with the help of which it is possible to simplify the most approximate calculation of the limited endurance limit of steels of oil and gas equipment operating under cyclic loads, as well as perform subsequent resource calculations.

Temperature dependence of Young’s modulus of Ag microwhiskers was determined by a laser Doppler vibrometer. The Ag whiskers with diameters in sub-microns were synthesized by the use of physical vapor deposition (PVD). They have a five-fold twinned structure grown along the [1 1 0] direction. The temperature coefficient of Young’s modulus was measured to be [Formula: see text] ppm/K in the range of 300 K to 650 K. The measured values are very close to the reported values of [Formula: see text] ppm/K for bulk Ag single crystals. This finding can benefit the design of Ag-based micro/nano-electromechanical systems or micro/nano-interconnectors operated at elevated or lowered temperatures.

The measuring of the constants of single-crystals requires the availability of crystals of relatively big size. In this paper the elastic constants of the single crystals of magnesium alloy with zinc, zirconium, and rare earth metals (REM) were determined by means of the experimental anisotropy of Young’s modulus and integral characteristics of texture (ICT), which were found from pole figures. Using these constants the anisotropy of Young’s modulus of alloy sheet ZE10 was calculated. Deviation of calculated values from experimental values did not exceed 2%.
