Global warming increases each day and causes people to pay more attention to the reduction of carbon dioxide emission in order to mitigate the increase in temperature. Reducing, reusing, and recycling can effectively reduce the emission of carbon dioxide, to attain goals of energy conservation and carbon reduction. This study aims to explore the difference in the punch resistance and impact strength between the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) nonwoven fabrics and PET/TPU honeycomb grid/PET (P/T/P) composites. Recycle PET, high strength PET, and low melting PET are made into PET nonwoven fabrics, two layers of which are laminated with a TPU honeycomb grid, the interlayer, to form P/T/P composites. The constant rate puncture resistance, dynamic puncture resistance, and impact strength of PET nonwoven fabrics and P/T/P composites are evaluated. The experiment results show that both the constant rate and dynamic puncture resistances of P/T/P composites are lower than those of PET nonwoven fabrics.

T23 is modern bainitic steel designed for use in supercritical boilers. According to producer’s data weldability of this steel is good enough to avoid post-weld heat treatment. However, some of the T23 weld joints in as-welded condition have not met the minimal ductility requirement. The impact test revealed significant differences between the joints in as-welded and heat treated condition. Metallographic and fractographic examinations have been conducted in order to explain those differences. The specimens with low impact strength were characterized by brittle fracture and non-tempered martensite presence in weld metal. It was concluded that avoiding formation of disadvantageous structure in weld metal requires conducting of post weld heat treatment or applying multi-pass welding technique with annealing run.

Blending PPO and POE-g-MAH assisted by SCCO2 has been investigated. The in-line rheological behavior of PPO and POE-g-MAH containing SCCO2 were studied with the slit die and self made in line rheological testing system. The effect of SCCO2 on the reduction of shear viscosity of PPO is more obvious than that of POE-g-MAH. The shear viscosity of PPO reduced 36.7% with addition 4wt% CO2. Morphology of blends was inspected by SEM. The sizes of POE-g-MAH disperse phase decreased with the contents of CO2 increasing. As a result, the impact strength of blend is improved from 43.5KJ/m2 to 100.9KJ/m2 due to introduce 4wt% SCCO2 for PPO/POE-g-MAH (85/15) blends.

While much is known regarding the effect of lasers on the retina, little study has been done on the effect of lasers on cornea, because of the limitation of the size of the material. Using a combination of electron microscope and several newly developed cytochemical methods, the effect of laser can now be studied on eye for the purpose of correlating functional and morphological damage. The present paper illustrates such study with CO2 laser on Rhesus monkey.
