The results of solving the inverse problem of determining the hydraulic resistance of a main oil pipeline are presented. The formulation of the inverse problem is formulated, a numerical method for solving the system of equations is described. The hydraulic resistance of the pipeline during the "hot" pumping of high-curing and high-viscosity oil changes during operation. Oil temperature decreases along the length of the pipeline due to heat transfer from the soil, leading to an increase in oil viscosity and an increase in hydraulic resistance.The dependence of the hydraulic resistance of the pipeline on the parameters of oil pumping is determined by solving the inverse problem. The inverse problem statement consists of a system of equations of laws of conservation of momentum, mass, energy and hydraulic resistance in the form of Altshul with unknown coefficients. The system of partial differential equations of hyperbolic type for speed and pressure is solved by the numerical method of characteristics, and the heat transfer equations by the iterative method of running counting.

Abstract The review of numerical studies on supercritical pressure (SCP) coolants heat transfer and hydraulic resistance in turbulent flow in vertical round tubes based on Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations and different models for turbulent viscosity is presented. The paper is the first part of the general analysis, the works based on using algebraic turbulence models of different complexity are considered in it. The main attention is paid to Petukhov-Medvetskaya and Popov et al. models. They were developed especially for simulating heat transfer in tubes of the coolants with significantly variable properties (droplet liquids, gases, SCP fluids) under heating and cooling conditions. These predictions were verified on the entire reliable experimental data base. It is shown that in the case of turbulent flow in vertical round tubes these models make it possible predicting heat transfer and hydraulic resistance characteristics of SCP flows that agree well with the existed reliable experimental data on normal and certain modes of deteriorated heat transfer, if significant influence of buoyancy and radical flow restructuring are absent. For the more complicated cases than a flow in round vertical tubes, as well as for the case of rather strong buoyancy effect, more sophisticated prediction techniques must be applied. The state-of-the-art of these methods and the problems of their application are considered in the Part II of the analysis.

This work theoretically studies the effects of wall velocity slip on the hydraulic resistance and convective heat transfer of laminar flow in a microchannel network with symmetric fractal treelike branching layout. It is found that the slip can reduce the hydraulic resistance and enhance the Nusselt number of laminar flow in the network; furthermore, the slip can also affect the optimal structure of the fractal treelike microchannel network with minimum hydraulic resistance and maximum convective heat transfer. Under the size constraint of constant total channel surface area, the optimal diameter ratio of microchannels at two successive branching levels of the symmetric fractal treelike microchannel network with a minimized hydraulic resistance is only dependent on branching number [Formula: see text] in the manner of [Formula: see text] for no slip condition, but decreases with the increasing slip length, the increasing branching number and the increasing length ratio of microchannels at two successive branching levels for slip condition. The convective heat transfer of the treelike microchannel network is independent on the diameter ratio for no slip condition, but displays an increasing after decreasing trend with the increasing diameter ratio for slip condition. The symmetric treelike microchannel network with the worst convective heat transfer performance is the network with diameter ratio equaling one for slip condition.
