Abstract Developable mechanisms conform to and emerge from developable, or specially curved, surfaces. The cylindrical developable mechanism can have applications in many industries due to the popularity of cylindrical or tube-based devices. Laparoscopic surgical devices in particular are widely composed of instruments attached at the proximal end of a cylindrical shaft. In this paper, properties of cylindrical developable mechanisms are discussed, including their behaviors, characteristics, and potential functions. One method for designing cylindrical developable mechanisms is discussed. Two example developable surgical devices that exemplify these behaviors, characteristics, and functions, along with the kinematic mechanisms comprising them, are discussed in detail.

As everyone knows, the temperature changes can cause the changes of mechanical geometric size. The thermal deformation obtained by traditional calculation formulas are approximate and linear, used in low precision requirement, however, if applied in high precision field, it is very limited. In this paper, by using the relations between crystal material line expansion coefficient and volume expansion coefficient, we will establish the thermal deformation mathematical model of cylindrical shaft and hole parts in the steady temperature, the model will consider the effects of the shape factors of parts on thermal deformation.

Roundness and spindle error motion measurements are two fundamental issues in the geometrical measuring techniques. Most of the fixture with rotating cylindrical shaft, cylinder defined by the minimum circumscribed axis, can be obtained the minimum circumscribed rotation surface high-precision axis. Generally, a more accurate measurement points, can result in a more accurate cylindrical shaft, but the longer the time of the calculation time. In this paper, the drawing method can handle a large number of measurement data to avoid lengthy and complicated calculations, and can quickly obtain the minimum circumscribed cylindrical axis precise location, deviation and cylindrical radius and tolerance. This article is the use of the minimum circumscribed cylinder theoretical approach with computer drawing ways. Comparison is relatively quick and easy. The actual display of the results, which can be easily, obtained the position, skew and deviation of the spindle. This paper will be established a cylindrical outer edge quality assessment model and provided a basis for the cylindrical outer edge quality assessment. This paper for seeking the axis of cylindrical shank is based on minimum circumscribed cylindrical theory with computer drawing method and instances for verification. The computer drawing method can be determined spindle eccentric angle and the distance of deviation, to provide a reliable model for the evaluation of rotary spindle, the mode established by the paper at the same time applicable to any other rotating spindle error evaluation.

In this article the principle of gas squeeze film levitation is described and the main application of it is introduced respectively according to the vibration mode.A new piezoelectric transducer applied for squeeze film bearing which is used for cylindrical shaft and can realize equably circumferential fixed support is proposed, the vibration characteristics of it is studied and the bearing’s loading capacity is tested.

Abstract Background Surgical correction of the webbed penis is challenging. We presented the safety and feasibility of webbed penis correction for neonates under local anesthesia using a simple principle of leaving equal cylindrical shaft skin. Methods This retrospective study included 530 patients who presented for circumcision to three pediatric surgery centers between May 2017 and January 2020. We included male patients aged less than four weeks old who had circumcision with a minimum of 6 months follow-up. We compared patients with normal penile anatomy (n = 451, Group 1) to a simple webbed penis (n = 79, Group 2). Results There were no differences in age and weight between groups. The procedure time was significantly longer in Group 2 (8.05 ± 3.11 vs. 7.48 ± 2.07 min; P = 0.04). There were no differences in bleeding (P = 0.38), redundant foreskin (P > 0.99), need for corrective surgery (P = 0.38), and re-suturing (P = 0.28) between groups. The procedure success was significantly higher in Group 1 (449 (99.56%) vs. 70 (88.6%); P < 0.001). Parents' satisfaction was measured at two weeks with no difference between both groups. Conclusion Simple penoscrotal web is not a contraindication for neonatal circumcision. Circumcision of the penoscrotal web had good esthetic results with comparable outcomes to those with a normal penis without a web.
