From the photochemical reaction of M(CO)6 (M = Cr, Mo, W) and (CH3)2-CH2 in ether, yellow solids with the composition [(CH3)2-CH2]2M(CO)4 are obtained in good yields.[(CH3)2-CH2]2M(CO)4 (M = Cr, Mo) are also accessible by the displacement of olefin from(norbornadiene) M(CO)4 by excess ylid in ether. Pale insoluble [(CH3)2-CH2]3Mo(CO)3 isthe sole product from the reaction of (cycloheptatriene)Mo(CO)3 and excess ylid in ether.
