Although malignant fibrous histiocytoma is the most common among soft tissue tumours in adults, its origin in the bladder is extremely rare. Only 17 cases have been reported so far. We present the case of an 86-year-old patient who, following clinical and instrumental examination for a large bladder growth, underwent partial cystectomy. The histopathological exam showed a neoplastic mass, while immunohistochemical findings indicated a malignant fibrous histiocytoma. A transitional cell carcinoma in situ with microinfiltration of the lamina propria was also observed near the above tumour.

Abstract This is the second reported case of a malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the heart that metastasized to the brain. A 33-year-old woman developed headache, nausea, and ataxic gait 9 months after removal of the tumor from the left atrium of the heart. Computed tomographic and magnetic resonance imaging scans disclosed multiple metastatic tumors in the brain. Although dramatic improvement in her symptoms and signs followed the removal of the brain tumors, she died of tumor recurrence in the left atrium 3 months after the removal of the metastatic brain tumors.

Abstract We present a case of recurrent extensive malignant fibrous histiocytoma of maxilla. The case is unusual because of its massive extent at presentation even after primary surgery and full course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Even such massive tumor can be excised successfully. Primary malignant histiocytoma is rare; and such huge tumor at presentation is also rare and favorable outcome even rarer.
