The objective of this work was to study circadian rhythms of the indicators of the spectral analysis of the heart rate variability in case of depression. Materials and methods. A total of 37 patients, with a mean age of 46.7±10.3 years, were examined. According to the International Classification of Disease, 10th revision (ICD-10), endogenous depression was diagnosed for all of them (F 31.3–31.4, F 32.0–32.2, F 33.0–33.2). To assess the variability of the heart rhythm, the spectral analysis was used. The patients were examined at 1 AM, 7 AM, 1 PM, 7 PM prior to the beginning of treatment, following one week, and upon leaving the inpatient department. The control group consisted of 15 mentally healthy people. Results. Before the beginning of treatment, desynchronization of circadian rhythms of the indicators studied and the sleep-wake cycle, the increase in the spectrum power within lowfrequency (LF) range, and the decrease in the spectrum power within high-frequency (HF) range were observed. Reduction of depression symptoms was followed by resynchronization of the rhythms under study, with a spectrum power within LF range being increased and that within HF range – decreased. Conclusions. Changes in depression symptoms and chronobiological disorders testify to their close pathogenetic link.

The performance and mental effort in a memory search task were studied in relation to length of preceding working times and the scheduling of intermittent rest pauses during work. Performance was measured by reaction time and percentage of missed signals. Mental effort was measured by means of the 0.10 Hz component in the spectral analysis of the heart rhythm signal. It was found that subjects protected their performance by spending more effort in the more unfavourable conditions: after several hours of work and after continuous work without breaks. In the most unfavourable condition, after 8 hours of work combined with sleep loss, the efficiency of the information processing was broken down. Performance was no longer protected by effort. This phenomenon is interpreted as a serious sign of mental fatigue.

One of the most common diseases of the cardiovascular system is cardiac arrhythmias. Assessment of the heart rate is one of the obligatory methods of pediatric examination and its deviation from the age norm may indicate a change in the child's health and be one of the first manifestations of the disease. Heart rhythm disturbances accompany various diseases, namely: congenital heart defects, cardiomyopathies, rheumatic and infectious diseases, intoxication, vegetative crises, endocrine diseases, diseases of the nervous system and others. Most often, in children's practice, it is not always possible to establish the cause of heart rhythm disturbances, as well as to classify the presence of organic or functional disorders without conducting morphological studies. Purpose — to study the features of heart rhythm and the state of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) among the children of primary school age with sinus bradycardia. Materials and methods. Children of primary school age with sinus bradycardia were examined (210 children). All children underwent: clinical examination, ECG at rest and after exercise, daily monitoring of ECG and heart rate, echocardiography, cardiointervalography with spectral analysis of heart rate. Results. Assessment of the cardiovascular system among children with bradycardia revealed the following features: 80.0% of children had no complaints, 68.0% of children at the age of 6–7 years and 55.0% of children at the age of 8–10 years had moderate bradycardia, 32.0% of children at the age of 6–7 years and 45.0% of children at the age of 8–10 years had significant bradycardia. After the exercise test, 71.0% of children still had bradycardia, which is typical for children at the age of 9–10 years and 29.0% of children had an acceleration of heart rate above the age norm. Holter monitoring revealed the following cardiac arrhythmias: sinus rhythm driver migration, ectopic rhythm, sinoatrial block, 2 grade atrioventricular block, atrial extrasystole and ventricular extrasystole. Different duration of sinoatrial pauses was detected: in the range from 1300–1400 ms among the most children (78.0%) to 1700–1800 ms among 1.8% of children. Data from spectral analysis of sinus rhythm showed the predominance of parasympathetic nervous system tone among the 84.0% of children, asympathicotonic (40.5%) and normal (44.9%) autonomic reactivity. Conclusions. Examination of the children of the primary school age revealed sinus bradycardia and bradyarrhythmia among the 80.7% of children. Bradyarrhythmia is typical for children at the age of 6–7 years, bradycardia — for children at the age of 9–10 years. Spectral analysis of the ANS showed an imbalance in the regulation of sinus rhythm: the predominance of the parasympathetic link, regardless of the initial state of the ANS and the violation of adaptive mechanisms. According to Holter monitoring, the duration of pauses is longer than normal for the given age (more than 1300 ms) indicates sinus node dysfunction and requires closer monitoring due to the risk of developing sinus node weakness syndrome and other threatening conditions in later life. The research was carried out in accordance with the principles of the Helsinki declaration. The study protocol was approved by the Local ethics committee of all participating institution. The informed consent of the patient was obtained for conducting the studies. No conflict of interest was declared by the authors. Key words: children, bradycardia, bradyarrhythmia, vegetative homeostasis.

Purpose. Detectiоn and cоrrectiоn оf vegetative deviatiоns in girls with impaired menstrual functiоn, inflammatоry diseases оf appendages, after оperative interventiоns abоut cysts at the stage оf sanatоrium treatment. Materials and methоds. Clinical-functiоnal studies were carried оut in dynamics, including assessment оf the state оf vegetative regulatiоn by spectral analysis оf heart rhythm variability, catechоlamine urine hоrmоnes. Results. Under supervisiоn there were 126 girls between the ages оf 9 and 15 whо arrived fоr sanatоrium treatment. Perfоrmed sanatоrium treatment: 66 girls with menstrual functiоn disоrders including pyrecetam electrоphоresis by eye-оccipital methоd against the backgrоund оf sanatоrium regime, LFC, 32 girls with inflammatоry diseases оf pelvic оrgans receiving SMT – Phоresis оf the mud sоlutiоn оn the abdоminal bоttоm, micrоclysms with sage, 28 girls after gynaecоlоgical оperatiоns receiving laser therapy оn the оvarian area, phоnоphоresis оn the abdоminal bоttоm and lоcal therapy in the fоrm оf micrоclysms with sage allоwed tо оbtain a favоrable effect оf the functiоnal state оf BHS, first оf all, due to reductiоn оf the impact оn the BDR оf the central humоral-metabоlic cоmpоnent, reductiоn of excessive activity. Cоnclusiоns. The effectiveness оf sanatоrium and spa treatment оf girls with gynecоlоgical pathоlоgy with menstrual cycle disоrders, inflammatоry diseases оf pelvic оrgans and after gynecоlоgical оperatiоns depends оn the individual purpоse оf the therapeutic cоmplex taking intо accоunt the expressiоn оf deviatiоns оf the state оf the vegetative nervоus system.

The sympathetic skin response and the spectral analysis of the heart rate variability at 25 patients with a tumor of a brain, at 39 patients with chronicle vessel encephalopathy, and also at 30 healthy examinees with the help of a computer complex "VNS-spectrum" are investigated. Quantitative shifts and the sign differences significative of change of descending influences of the suprosegmental vegetative centers, with imbalance sympathetic both parasympathetic nervous systems and humoral the channel of the regulation, distinct from norms, and also patients differing between groups a tumoral and vascular pathology are established. Changes of separate parameters are supplemented with distinctions within the group correlation mutual relation between parameters of the spectral analysis variability an heart rhythm.
