Oximes of gamma cyano- and gamma nitro-ketones are decomposed by heat as well as by acids. From the very complex mixtures resulting there have been isolated arylated pyrroles, arylated 2-aminopyridines, and the corresponding pyridones, as well as several minor products. This behavior constitutes a new synthesis of these heterocyclic compounds. In a Beckmann rearrangement γ-benzoyl-α,β-diphenylbutyronitrile gave an anilide, the structure of which was confirmed by an independent synthesis. By physical methods both structures of gamma ketonic amides are confirmed.

Eight polyhydroxylated cholesterol derivatives (1-8) were prepared from cholesterol, using oxidative reagents as SeO2, OsO4/NMO, HCOOH/H2O2 and BH3/ H2O2. Their structures were elucidated by using physical methods including NMR 1D and 2D. These compounds were evaluated against two cancer cell lines (Hep-G2, T98). Compounds 2, 4 and 8 inhibits human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line (Hep-G2) with IC50 4.69, 4.98 and 2.89 µg/mL, respectively. In addition, compound 8 exhibited strong cytotoxicity against T98 cell line (glioblastoma) with IC50 = 2.28 μM.

This study including prepared new colored esters containing heterocyclic with high molecular weights. In the first part of work we synthesized azo dyes [1,2] from the reaction p-toluidine with β-naphthol and o-nitro phenol, thin we synthesized Schiff bases [3,4] by the reaction anthranilic acid with benzaldehyde and dimethyl benzaldehyde. The reaction azo dyes (contain OH group) with Schiff base (contain COOH group) these led to produce the new colored esters [A1-A4]. The second part of work was modification the (C=N-) group in esters to heterocyclic compounds by reacting with phenyl iso cyanide to produce new β-lactam [B1-B4] and with anthranilic acid to get new hydroquinazoline [C1-C4]. All these compounds were characterized by physical properties and spectral methods FTIR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR.
