Schmitt recognized that research is needed to identify other factors associated with sex ratio and with sociosexuality that may explain cross-cultural variation in sexual behavior. One such factor may be the risk of sperm competition. Sperm competition theory may lead us to a more complete explanation of cultural variation in sexual behavior.

Background: Talking about sex, sexuality, sexual health in many countries, including Madagascar, is very difficult because of the sacred and taboos that surround these questions but especially because of certain puritanism. The objective of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices of adolescents in matters of sexual health.Methods: A retrospective, descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in adolescents aged 10 to 19 seen in Ambohidratrimo district. The data were collected during the month of June and July 2019 and relate to data for the twelve months before the survey.Results: A total of 210 adolescents were recruited whose average age was 15.82±2.75 years and the sex ratio was 1:04. Eighty-six percent of the adolescents surveyed had heard of sexual health. Nine out of 10 adolescents would go to a health worker if they contract an STI. Almost a quarter or 23.8% of respondents declared having already had sexual intercourse.Conclusions: At the end of this study on the knowledge, attitudes and practices of adolescents on sexual health, they certainly have knowledge but considered average. Therefore, there is a need for sexuality education, seeking to improve knowledge and understanding of sexual development, human procreation, healthy and adapted sexual behavior and different means of contraception, on the part of adolescents, but also with the aim of improving communications between adolescents and their parent.

Summary: Hare's Psychopathy Checklist - Revised (PCL-R; Hare, 1991 ) was originally constructed for use among males in correctional and forensic settings. In this study, the PCL-R protocols of 36 matched pairs of female and male violent offenders were examined with respect to gender differences. The results indicated a few significant differences. By means of discriminant analysis, male Ss were distinguished from their female counterparts through their relatively higher scores on “callous/lack of empathy” (item 8) and “juvenile delinquency” (item 18), whereas the female Ss scored relatively higher on “promiscuous sexual behavior” (item 11). Some sources of bias and possible implications are discussed.

This review examines associations between parenting styles and the psychosexual development of adolescents. Methods and results of empirical studies of associations between parental support, control, and knowledge and the sexual behavior and sexual health of adolescents are described and evaluated. The results show that, in general, higher scores on support, control, and knowledge relate to a delay of first sexual intercourse, safer sexual practices, and higher sexual competence. Despite the vast amount of literature on this subject, the majority of these studies focus on single dimensions of parenting and unidirectional parenting influences. This review generates hypotheses regarding interactions of different parenting styles and reciprocal associations between parents and their children. There is a need for more dynamic, dialectical studies of parenting, and children’s sexual development.
