Recently, there has been renewed interest in improving the logit-based route choice model because of the importance of the route choice model in intelligent transportation systems applications, particularly the applications of advanced traveler information systems. The paired combinatorial logit (PCL) model and its equivalent mathematical programming formulation for the route choice problem have been studied. An algorithm based on the partial linearization method is presented for solving the PCL stochastic user equilibrium problem. Detailed examples are provided to explain how this hierarchical logit model resolves the overlapping problem through the similarity index while still accounting for both congestion and stochastic effects in the mathematical programming formulation.

This article aims to introduce the use of ordered logit model with time series data in milk productivity studies and determine the important factor levels affecting the milk yield of Holstein Friesians. The data consists of 2002 records collected for the years 2009-2015 from the reports of the Cattle Breeders’ Association of Turkey (CBAT) in Muðla province in Turkey. The direct and marginal effects of the variables: parity, lactation length and year of calving on milk yield are investigated and the probabilities regarding the milk yield production for a given specific parity, lactation length and calving year are calculated. The results show that milk yield slightly increases on the 4th parity of cows. As far as the years concerned, although there had mostly been a steady amount of milk production between 2009 and 2015 years, there was a significant decrease in 2011 and increase in 2014.

Meat and Milk Institution is implementing red meat sales through grocery chains in order to ensure stability in red meat prices in Turkey. In this study in order to evaluate the effectiveness of this policy from the perspective of consumers, data set obtained from 388 households in Gaziantep city center was used. According to the findings, it has been determined that 53.6% of consumers prefer contracted markets due to the suitability of red meat prices. Initially, all consumers bought red meat from contracted markets, but it was found that 62.11% of them gave up buying red meat from these markets. This situation was found to be quite remarkable and logit model was used to determine the factors affecting the continuity of red meat purchase of households from contracted markets. According to the Logit model results, it was observed that households buying red meat from the contracted markets were affected by the variables that they are care about the price of red meat, income and frequency of shopping at these markets. As a result, it can be stated that this policy implemented by the ESK is aimed at selling red meat to low-income consumers rather than providing price stability and does not have a demand increasing effect.

This article identifies consumer characteristics associated with preferences toward fluid milk alternatives. Using consumer survey data from Samsun province of Turkey and Multinomial Logit model, unpacked and packed fluid milk preferences were analyzed. Based on the results, 14.1% of respondents consumed only unpacked fluid milk, 58.2% consumed only packed fluid milk and 27.7% of respondents consumed both unpacked and packed fluid milk at least once a weak. Multinomial Logit model results indicated that better educated household head, higher income households, younger and female household head and people who agree with “unpacked milk is not healthy” consume more packed fluid milk than do others. Moreover, consumers who agree with statement “price of packed milk is expensive compare to unpacked milk” were less likely to consume packed fluid milk than do others.
