Aiming at the problem of dynamic analysis of SSI system, the dynamic influence of different parts of foundation soil is studied on the linear elastic assumption according to the actual mechanism of Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI); in addition, a simplified model on the condition of the lumped mass method is put forward and the corresponding motion equations of SSI system are built, which can be a reference for the structural seismic design method considering SSI effect.

In this paper we present a dynamic analysis of a general spherical four-link mechanism whose links have arbitrary mass distribution. Results, which are in explicit analytical expressions in terms of inertia-induced forces and moments in links, are useful for optimum design of the mechanism under high-speed operation.

To protect a pressurized system from overpressure, one of the most established strategies is to install a Pressure Safety Valve (PSV). Therefore, the excess pressure of the system is relieved through a vent pipe when PSV opens. The vent pipe is also called “PSV Outlet Header”. After the process starts, a transient two-phase flow is formed inside the outlet header consisting of high speed pressurized gas interacting with existing static air. The high-speed jet compresses the static air towards the end tail of the pipe until it is discharged to the ambiance and eventually, the steady state is achieved. Here, this transient process is investigated both analytically and numerically using the method of characteristics. Riemann’s solvers and Godunov’s method are utilized to establish the solution. Propagation of shock waves and flow property alterations are clearly demonstrated throughout the simulations. The results show strong shock waves as well as high transient pressure take place inside the outlet header. This is particularly important since it indicates the significance of accounting for shock waves and transient pressure, in contrast to commonly accepted steady state calculations. More precisely, shock waves and transient pressure could lead to failure, if the pipe thickness is chosen only based on conventional steady state calculations.

Transmission of electrical energy from a catenary system to traction units must be safe and reliable especially for high speed trains. Modern pantographs have to meet these requirements. Pantographs are subjected to several forces acting on their structural elements. These forces come from pantograph drive, inertia forces, aerodynamic effects, vibration of traction units etc. Modern approach to static and dynamic analysis should take into account: mass distribution of particular parts, physical properties of used materials, kinematic joints character at mechanical nodes, nonlinear parameters of kinematic joints, defining different parametric waveforms of forces and torques, and numerical dynamic simulation coupled with FEM calculations. In this work methods for the formulation of the governing equations of motion are presented. Some of these methods are more suitable for automated computer implementation. The novel computer methods recommended for static and dynamic analysis of pantographs are presented. Possibilities of dynamic analysis using CAD and CAE computer software are described. Original results are also presented. Conclusions related to dynamic properties of pantographs are included. Chapter 2 presents the methods used for formulation of the equation of pantograph motion. Chapter 3 is devoted to modelling of forces in multibody systems. In chapter 4 the selected computer tools for dynamic analysis are described. Chapter 5 shows the possibility of FEM analysis coupled with dynamic simulation. In chapter 6 the summary of this work is presented.

Inverse dynamic analysis of a three degree of freedom parallel mechanism driven by three electrical motors is carried out to study the effect of motion speed on the system dynamics and control input requirements. Availability of inverse dynamics models offer many advantages, but controllers based on real-time inverse dynamic simulations are not practical for many applications due to computational limitations. An off-line linearisation of system and error dynamics based on the inverse dynamic analysis is developed. It is shown that accurate linear models can be obtained even at high motion speeds eliminating the need to use computationally intensive inverse dynamics models. A point-to-point motion path for the mechanism platform is formulated by using a third order exponential function. It is shown that the linearised model parameters vary significantly at high motion speeds, hence it is necessary to use adaptive controllers for high performance.
