Isoguanine, an analogue of guanine, is of intrinsic interest as a noncanonical nucleobase. The crystal structure of isoguaninium chloride (systematic name: 6-amino-2-oxo-1H,7H-purin-3-ium chloride), C5H6N5O+·Cl−, has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Structure analysis was supported by electrostatic interaction energy (E es) calculations based on charge density reconstructed with the UBDB databank. In the structure, two kinds of molecular tapes are observed, one parallel to (010) and the other parallel to (50\overline{4}). The tapes are formed by dimers of isoguaninium cations interacting with chloride anions. E es analysis indicates that cations in one kind of tape are oriented so as to minimize repulsive electrostatic interactions.

Single-crystal X-ray diffraction structure determinations are reported for three reaction products and photoisomers formed from reactions between an o-diphenoquinone valence isomer and primary and secondary amines, namely: 3,5-di-t-butyl-7-(3,5-di-t-butyl-2-hydroxyphenyl)-1-methyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-azepin-2-one (8; R1 = R2 = But, R3 = Me), its photochemical isomerization product 4,6-di-t-butyl-1-(3,5-di-t-butyl-2-hydroxyphenyl)-2-methyl-2-azabicyclo[3,2,0]hept-6-en-3-one (9; R1 = R2 = But, R3 = Me) and 4',5,7-tri-t-butyl-3'-(2,2-dimethylpropionyl)-1'-methylspiro[benzofuran-3(2H)-2'- pyrrolidinel-2,5'-dione (12; R1 = R2 = But, R3 = Me).

AbstractOrthorhombic dysprosium orthogallate DyGaO3 and trigonal gallium orthoborate GaBO3 were synthesized in a Walker-type multianvil apparatus under high-pressure/high-temperature conditions of 8.5 GPa/1350 °C and 8 GPa/700 °C, respectively. Both crystal structures could be determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction data collected at room temperature. The orthorhombic dysprosium orthogallate crystallizes in the space group Pnma (Z = 4) with the parameters a = 552.6(2), b = 754.5(2), c = 527.7(2) pm, V = 0.22002(8) nm3, R1 = 0.0309, and wR2 = 0.0662 (all data) and the trigonal compound GaBO3 in the space group R3̅c (Z = 6) with the parameters a = 457.10(6), c = 1419.2(3) pm, V = 0.25681(7) nm3, R1 = 0.0147, and wR2 = 0.0356 (all data).
