Op 7 mei jl. is Prof. dr. Fernando Lopes da Silva op 84-jarige leeftijd overleden. Fernando Lopes da Silva was van 1980 tot 2000 als hoogleraar verbonden aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, eerst aan de biologie-faculteit en later aan het Swammerdam Instituut for Life Sciences. Fernando was in binnen- en buitenland erkend en geliefd om zijn inzicht, kennisoverdracht, wijsheid en warme persoonlijkheid.
