The flame retardant dicyclohexenyl aluminum hypophosphite (ADCP) and nano-silica are added to PA66 to improve flame retardant property of the composite. The flame-retardant property of the composite is tested via oxygen index test, vertical burning test, and cone calorimetry test. Combustion residues are tested using scanning electron microscopy, EDS spectroscopy, and Fourier infrared analysis. Results show that flame-retardant ADCP can effectively promote the formation of a porous carbon layer on the combustion surface of PA66. Nano-silica easily migrates to the material surface to improve the oxidation resistance of the carbon layer and the density of the carbon layer’s structure. It can also effectively prevent heat, flammable gases, and oxygen from entering the flame zone and enhance the flame retardant properties of ADCP.

A series of aromatic hyperbranched polyethers have been synthesized from cyanuric chloride and diols by using nucleophilic displacement polymerization technique. The synthesized sulfur containing polyether was blended with commercially available low density polyethylene (LDPE) and plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) separately to improve the flame retardant property of those linear polymers. The flame retardancy of blends at different dose levels of the hyperbranched polyether with those linear polymers was investigated by measurement of limiting oxygen index (LOI) value and thermogravimetric analysis. The LOI values and TG analysis of these blends indicated that the hyperbranched polyether act as flame retardant additive.

As PLA composites are easy to kindle, making flame-retardant composites is particularly important. PLA can be widely used after improvement. In the process of making cotton stalk bast fibers reinforced PLA composites, adding APP/PER a type of flame-retardants in the experiment produces a kind of composites with good flame-retardant property. Orthogonal experiment table including length and mass fraction of fibers, molding temperature and addition of flame-retardants was devised. Then the study focused on the flame-retardant property of the composites and the analysis of range and variance were done. The optimal processing condition was obtained: length of fibers was 8mm, mass fraction of fibers was 30%, molding temperature was 175°C and addition of flame-retardants was 10%. Fibers reinforced PLA composites with APP/PER got better flame-retardant property than the composites without APP/PER, with the LOI rising 6.61. This kind of composite can be extensively applied in many fields.

Fire and hot properties of title composite were taken by the method of vertical burning, OI, and TG. Fire performance experiments demonstrated that the scale of flame retardant property of Sb2O3/ DBDPE/RTV was FV-0, OI was 46. Hot decomposition temperature is about 400 oC to 520 oC with the amount of 20wt% as additives. The kinetic parameters of the decomposition reaction of the title composite have been studied by means of DSC. The data are fitted to the integral, differential and exothermic rate equations by linear least-squares, iterative, combined dichotomous and least-squares methods, respectively. The study leads the reader to the conclusion that the empirical kinetic model functions in differential form, the values of and of this reaction were , -1857.20 kJ/mol and 244.9 s-1 respectively. Sb2O3/ DBDPE are a kind of flame retardant which own its flame retardant function to higher activation energy but the release of halogen. It is a usable retardant during the lifetime.
