The seismic performance of a steel pier of box section was studied through low-cycle cyclic testing. The damaged specimens were repaired by filling with concrete and welding steel plates. The low-cycle cyclic test was then repeated. The effects of repairs were investigated by comparison of failure mode, energy dissipation performance, and ductility before and after repair. To supplement the data, the influence of different factors on the seismic bearing capacity and ductility of steel piers were analyzed by finite element method. The repair effects were compared by threshold of the displacement from the experiment. Based on the displacement angle response of the nonlinear dynamic time history analysis, the seismic performance is checked. The results show that repair had favourable effects on the damaged specimens. The horizontal bearing capacity and ductility of the specimens filled with concrete are significantly enhanced. Reinforcement by steel plates can increase the ductility and cumulative energy dissipation of the steel pier. An axial compression ratio of 0.2 and a concrete filling ratio of 30% are suggested. The horizontal bearing capacity can be improved by increasing the steel strength while the concrete strength shows little effect. The angular displacement from nonlinear dynamic time-history analysis was less than the test threshold, so the existing methods used for seismic performance verification are safe.

Abstract. In the paper, take full account of energy dissipation operating characteristics. Interlayer shear-frame structure for the analysis of the Wilson-Θmethod ELASTOPLASTIC schedule, the design of a nonlinear dynamic time history analysis procedure. On this basis, taking into account the restoring force characteristics of the energy dissipation system, the inflection point in the restoring force model treatment, to avoid a result of the calculation results of distortion due to the iterative error. A frame structure seismic response time history analysis results show that: the framework of the energy dissipation significantly lower than the seismic response of the common framework, and its role in the earthquake when more significant.

In this study, effect of analysis variables on structural integrity of nuclear piping under beyond design basis earthquake was investigated via performing dynamic time history seismic analysis. A finite element model of the piping system such as shut-down cooling line was developed combining solid and beam elements. Dynamic time history analysis was performed via finite element elastic plastic stress analysis. Validity of the dynamic time history analysis procedure was verified via comparing with the previous study results. Finally, the effect of analysis variables such as finite element characteristics, transition length between elbow and straight line, fluid effect, etc. was investigated via performing parametric dynamic time history seismic analysis. As a result, it was found that use of the 1st incompatible element is recommended, the transition length is the same as curvature of the elbow, and fluid has to be considered.

This paper presents the development of synthetic ground motion at specific sites in Yogyakarta town. In the 2019 Indonesian Seismic Code [1] provides an alternative method in the analysis of building structures by applying the dynamic time history analysis. At least 11-pairs of earthquake recordings must be used in the analysis. Synthetic ground motion utilizing the Method of Probability Seismic Hazard Analysis (PSHA) was used in this study. A selected site in Yogyakarta town was chosen as a pilot study considering that there were many fatalities and building damage caused by the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake. The Uniform Hazard Spectra (UHS) based on the shallow crustal earthquake source is higher than the Megathrust. The risk targeted spectrum demand MCEr has been considered, which on average 12.3% greater than the UHS. The synthetic ground motions (SGM) are accordingly based on the shallow crustal earthquakes. The dominant magnitude and distance are MD = 6.5 and RD = 14.5 km. They show that the contribution of the Opak River fault to the hazard in Yogyakarta town is very dominant because the distance is very close. Based on the obtained MD and RD, spectral matching, and testing significant duration D595, the 12-synthetic ground motions were successfully developed.
