IntroductionLife expectancy of patients with severe mental illness (SMI) is two decades shorter than that of general population. The most important cause of death are cardiovascular diseases (CVD).ObjectivesThere is a need for CVD risk screening tools development and validation in the context of the Czech Republic.AimsMethodological approach to a CVD risk screening, risk stratification and specific life-style interventions development is presented. In a context of the psychiatric hospital with c. 7000 admissions per year.MethodsThere are no concise data on CVD risk of psychiatric patients in the Czech Republic so cross-sectional analysis of one day hospitalized patients was performed.ResultsA sample of 1056 pts. was obtained. Database allowed extraction data on CVD risk factors (RF): diagnosis, age, sex, BMI and blood pressure (BP). The most common diagnosis were F20 and F10. Multicriterial analysis according to diagnosis (frequency of highest BMI and BP) showed the worst results in the F20 followed by F10 group. Would we define the CVD RF as BMI ≥ 30, age ≥ 65, sBP ≥ 140, dBP ≥ 90, then no RF is present in 368, one in 238, two in 191, three in 92 and four RF in 33 pts. Two step screening protocol was developed – SOMA score. Abstract The aim of the paper is to assess the Czech participation in international cooperation in the security research and to identify obstacles which prevent a higher involvement of research teams from the Czech Republic in this cooperation. The methodological approach to the analysis and the used data sources are briefly described in the first part of the paper. In the next part we present the results of the analysis of the participation of entities from the Czech Republic in projects dealing with security issues, which were supported by the 7th Framework Program for Research and Technological Development and Horizon 2020, and by some other programs supporting the international cooperation in R&D. The obtained information is supplemented by results of the questionnaire survey between research organizations active in security research and by the findings of the expert workshop.

Medical equipment (ME) is often considered to be an important factor in the growth of healthcare expenditures. In the Czech Republic (CR) validated approach does not yet exist for hospitals to use to assess commercial offers, nor is there a generally accepted methodology for regulatory bodies to allow for the evaluation of the effectiveness of prior purchases. This study intends to present a methodological approach that will allow for assessing the effectiveness of the procurement of capital ME based on international prices. The case of the purchase of tomotherapy system in the CR was used to demonstrate the developed approach. We performed a multiway search for international estimated and exact prices for tomotherapy unit using public-procurement databases, scientific papers, health technology assessment studies, professional reports, and Internet searches. All of the data that was gathered on prices was subjected to critical assessment vis-à-vis the reliability of the information. This research lays new methodology that may provide general background of international comparison studies focused on ME. The results provide support for decision making about the acquisitions of ME.

This article discusses the problems of exogenous approach to regional development and tries to evaluate the impacts of such regional politics. Specifically, it is focused on the evaluation of investments efficiency in the hard infrastructure of municipalities. The main contribution of this paper lies in establishing a methodical basis for the evaluation of investments in the hard infrastructure of municipalities, both from the view of economic impacts on the economy of respective municipalities and also from the view of wider social context, concerning mainly the employment and economic base structure. Subsequently, the impact of majority of industrial zones in the Czech Republic on regional development is tested using this methodological approach.

The goal of the paper is to propose a methodological approach to evaluation of regional disparities, which is based on a comparison of life quality in each regions of the Czech Republic. Life quality in regions is influenced e.g. by natural, social-cultural and economical conditions or rather fields. This approach to evaluation of regional disparities is grounded in forming of summary index of development potential of the region. This index includes evaluation of life quality in all three above mentioned fields. Summary index of development potential also allows determine the ranking of regions from the view of life quality.Compiling of partial indexes comes before determination of summary index of development potential of the region. Partial indexes enable to evaluate development potential of certain regions in the field of natural resources, social and cultural resources and in the field of economic efficiency.Results of disparities evaluation in regions of the Czech Republic indicate relatively great disparities among individual regions. Evaluation of summary index of development potential evidently shows on significant position of the Capital of Prague and Central Bohemian region. Opposite position have primarily Karlovy Vary Region and Olomouc Region.

The paper describes the main reasons for the formation of new regional association of wineries, based on a different origin of wines in the wine region of Moravia in the southeast part of the Czech Republic. This research aim is to create a plan for a new development of such strategic alliances on the basis of results of the localization factors. The coefficient of localization is used for the identification of the cluster. The results are compared with the already operating associations for the appellation in Austria (DAC). There were traced changes in the consumer preferences in the Czech wine market. Consumers are placing more emphasis on the selection of wine on its descent from a particular area, the growing community and the individual grower. The dynamic development of the wine category, major changes in the market and the consumer demand are the main causes for the formation of associations of small and medium-sized wineries. This paper specifically introduces new associations for the appellation system VOC. This alliance is described in the context of the establishment, operation, development and expansion, respectively the possibility of the involvement of additional organizations suppliers and research institutions. The application of the results of research was a plan for the establishment of a new alliance VOC Modré Hory, where there are associated 30 wine producers of wine in 5 villages around the centre Velké Pavlovice. Based on the experience of the newly emerging VOC system of appellations, there was set up a plan of formation of the association with the proposed methodological approach. Open cooperation between the associations VOC appellation and other entities involving suppliers, customers, research institutions and universities has the possibility of creating an institutionalized wine cluster. The plan to create a wine cluster was proposed to establish the cooperation between the newly emerging associations of the VOC at three sub-regions of South Moravia, in order to achieve a competitive advantage.

This article adds to recent intergenerational family memory research by presenting an empirical study of three-generational stories recounted by thirteen families in the Czech Republic. By drawing on a detailed and rigorous methodological approach, this article focuses on the topic of stories, their emotionality, and the personal traits of the heroes. The majority of families told their family stories in a prototypical, perhaps archetypal fashion, depicting their ancestors as heroes under circumstances of danger, fear, and threat. A tendency to valorize ancestors is observed in the stories framed by important historical events while private family stories tend to have more of an amusing character. Why a family shares that or another type of stories depends on many circumstances, particularly on a long-lived and generative ancestor, intergenerational relations, and family values.

In the Czech Republic, milk producers’ organisations arose spontaneously from farmers’ initiatives in the late 1990s as a response to the need to secure fair market conditions for dairy farmers. At present, there are 39 milk producers’ organisations operating locally, nationwide or even on the central European markets. The paper aims at a better understanding what market conditions and transaction attributes have favoured the emergence and the success of the Czech milk marketing cooperatives as well as if their current objectives and strategies are sufficient for securing their future success. The methodological approach rests largely in the theory of industrial organisation combined with the new institutional economics. Establishing marketing cooperatives, dairy farmers balanced market power with processing industry. It is showed on six case studies that the Czech milk marketing cooperatives follow traditional objectives (securing sales, fair price and payment discipline); however, their priorities and strategies differ according to their market environment. If the concentration of the dairy industry continues, there will be a need for reconsidering the objectives of milk marketing cooperatives toward a more vertical coordination in the dairy chain.

The determination of minimum residual flow (MRF) follows diverse methodology in Europe due to differing hydrological conditions, ecosystem requirements, water abstraction requirements, and legislation. Methodologies in individual countries are difficult to compare qualitatively. However, individual approaches can serve as examples for countries undergoing the process of developing new methodologies, either for legislative purposes or to improve environmental standards on watercourses. This is exactly the situation in the Czech Republic which, has been working on the Regulation of the Government of the Czech Republic for ten years, since the amendment to the Water Act in 2010, defines the methods and criteria for determining the MRF on watercourses. T.G. Masaryk Water Research Institute, p.r.i., was commissioned to develop a new methodology to serve as the basis for the wording of aforementioned regulation. The new methodological approach took into account modern trends concerning the preservation of ecological standards, and used standard hydrological characteristics for its calculations. The newly proposed approach is undergoing a complicated approval process as the authors seek to increase the MRF compared to the current approach. The new approach assumes an MRF setting between Q97 and Q90. It defines four areas within the Czech Republic, by their hydrological and hydrogeological conditions, where the MRF is determined in different ways. This article describes the development of a new methodological approach, including the use the available Czech Hydrometeorological Institute data sets, the proposed regional division for MRF calculations, the determination the MRF below reservoirs, and the current state of the issue.
