By using the semi-classical open orbit theory, the effect of the laser polarization direction on the detached electron flux of H− in electric field near metal surface has been studied. The result suggests that the azimuth angle [Formula: see text] has little effect on the electron flux distribution. We find that the influence of polarization angle θL on electron flux distribution is more obvious than the influence of the azimuth angle [Formula: see text]. In other words, the effect of the polarization angle θL on electron flux distribution is more important. We hope that our study will provide a new understanding of the electron flux distribution of negative ion in external field and surfaces, and can be used to guide the future experiment research on the negative ion photo-detachment microscopy.

An effective method to obtain the single attosecond pulses (SAPs) by using the multi-cycle plasmon-driven double optical gating (DOG) technology in the specifically designed metal nanostructures has been proposed and investigated. It is found that with the introduction of the crossed metal nanostructures along the driven and the gating polarization directions, not only the harmonic cutoff can be extended, but also the efficient high-order harmonic generation (HHG) at the very highest orders occurs only at one side of the region inside the nanostructure. As a result, a 93 eV supercontinuum with the near stable phase can be found. Further, by properly introducing an ultraviolet (UV) pulse into the driven laser polarization direction (which is defined as the DOG), the harmonic yield can be enhanced by two orders of magnitude in comparison with the singe polarization gating (PG) technology. However, as the polarized angle or the ellipticity of the UV pulse increase, the enhancement of the harmonic yield is slightly reduced. Finally, by superposing the selected harmonics from the DOG scheme, a 30 as SAP with intensity enhancement of two orders of magnitude can be obtained.

The phonon anisotropy property of the GaN wurtzite crystal is studied using angular dependent Raman spectroscopy both theoretically and experimentally. The polarized Raman scattering spectra were recorded from cross-sections of c-axis oriented GaN films as a function of the angle between the incident laser polarization direction and the film normal direction in three different configurations. The Raman intensity of A1(TO) showed a sinusoidal dependence on the rotating angle, as also did the E1(TO) mode, while the E2 mode has a quite different behavior. The theoretical fit takes into account the susceptibility contribution and the phase differential of different vibrating elements.

Single crystalline InP was ablated with linearly p-polarized femtosecond laser in air. Ripples with orientation parallel to the laser polarization direction were formed at low laser fluence. Analyses by EDX reveal In oxides and P oxides on the surface. Micro Raman spectroscopy of the laser irradiated surface indicates presence of stresses and possible formation of InP nanocrystals due to the femtosecond laser irradiation.
