In this study, the composites of ceramic waste filler polyester were produced with ceramic waste as the filler and unsaturated polyester resin as the matrix. Various weight of filler loads (particle size [180 m) were used; 0, 28.5, 41 and 50 wt% in view to better understand the effect of filler content on the mechanical, thermal properties and water absorption of the composites. Additionally, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was used to characterize the samples, from the findings, it is noticed an increase in the level of porcelain powder decreased the flexural strength and Hardness and increased the density. The results of water absorption have shown the composites absorbs fewer water. Thermal degradation indicates that the composite is more resistant to temperature than unsaturated polyester matrix due to the effect of porcelain powder incorporated. Moreover, the results reveal an opportunity for using the ceramic waste as filler in unsaturated polyester resin formulation.

Thermal degradation of the composite blend consisting unsaturated polyester resin, alumina trihydrate and silica aerogel was studied using thermal gravimetric analysis. Composite filled with silica aerogel show lower density and slightly improve the thermal stability of the pure polymer. The addition of alumina trihydrate slows down the degradation of the polymer due to the release of bond water while the combination of silica aerogel and alumina trihydrate in polyester matrix does not interrupt the function of alumina trihydrate due to inert properties of silica aerogel.

In the present study, unsaturated polyester resins based on castor oil was synthesized. Structure elucidation of the synthesized unsaturated polyester resin was done by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Thermogravimetric analysis was used to evaluate the thermal stability of cured unsaturated polyester resin. Thermogram plot was further utilized to calculate various other parameters such as statistic heat-resistant index (Ts) and the integral procedural decomposition temperature (IPDT). Comparable properties with respect to commercial resins were reported for the synthesized polymers

Compression molding has produced quartz-reinforced polyester composites (QPCs) weighing 10 to 40 per cent quartz relative to the weight of unsaturated polyester resin. Synergistic changes were made in the composite properties and were superior to those of the individual components. The composite's physical and  mechanical properties such as bulk density, water absorption , tensile strength, flexural strength, hardness have illustrated the competency of the composite being developed. It was found that for the resultant composite examined, the percentage of water absorption is very small. However, when quartz content were increased, water absorption grew very slowly. Enhancement of mechanical properties strongly corresponds to strong adhesion force of quartz with the matrix and it influenced by well-disperse quartz particles on the whole surface of composite. This paper also performed thermal characterization of the composites. Because of these remarkable properties, as prepared composite can find applications in packaging, fuel cell, solar cell, structural materials and households purposes.
