In order to fabricate fabrics with electromagnetic shielding effectiveness (EMSE) and other function, we fabricated Crisscross-section polyester /antibacterial nylon / stainless steel wires (CSP/AN/SSW) composite yarns with stainless wires as core yarn, antibacterial nylon and crisscross-section polyester as inner and out wrapped yarns, respectively. Knitted fabrics were fabricated with the metal composite yarns with wrap amount of 8 turns/cm on a circular knitted machine. Furthermore, the EMSE of the metal composite fabrics were evaluated by changing the lamination amounts and lamination angles. The results show that when the lamination amount was four, lamination angles were 0°/45°/90°/-45°, the EMSE of the fabrics reached to-10--20 dB in the frequency range of 300 KHz to 3 GHz.

In order to fabricate textiles with electromagnetic shielding effectiveness (EMSE) and far infrared emissivity, we fabricated bamboo charcoal/metal (BC/M) composite wrapped yarns with metal wires (stainless steel wires or copper wires) as the core yarn and bamboo charcoal textured yarn as the wrapped yarns using a rotor twister machine. The optimum manufacture parameters included: the speed of the rotor twister was 8000 rpm and the wrapped amounts of the BC/M composite wrapped yarns were 4 turns/cm. The BC/M composite wrapped yarns were made into the BC/M composite woven fabrics using a loom machine. Moreover, we tested the BC/M composite woven fabrics in EMSE and then changed the lamination angles. When the lamination amount was 6, laminated angles were 0°/45°/90°/-45°/0°/45°, 0°/ 90°/0°/ 90°/0°/ 90°, and the frequencies of the incident waves were between 1.83 and 3 GHz, the EMSE of the BC/M composite woven fabrics reached 50 to 60 dB which was satisfactory.

Electromagnetic radiation is becoming increasingly serious around our living environment, which seriously endangers people's health and interferes with the operation of electronic equipment. The research and development of anti-electromagnetic radiation fabric have drawn more and more attention. However, the influencing rules and mechanisms of conductive fiber content, fabric tightness, warp–weft density, conductive yarn arrangement, weave type, and electromagnetic wave frequency on fabric electromagnetic shielding effectiveness have not been clarified. Therefore, in this study, a series of fabrics containing stainless steel fibers were produced. Meanwhile, the influencing rules of various factors on electromagnetic shielding effectiveness and the quantitative relationship between some factors and electromagnetic shielding effectiveness were discussed. The results showed that all factors had different degrees of influence on electromagnetic shielding effectiveness, and the relationship between electromagnetic shielding effectiveness and electromagnetic wave frequency could be approximately expressed as: [Formula: see text]. At the same time, the influencing mechanisms of various factors on electromagnetic shielding effectiveness were analyzed in combination with fabric microstructure and macrostructure, the intrinsic parameters of the fabric and the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness mechanism. The results are expected to provide a reference for the establishment of electromagnetic shielding fabric model and enterprise production.

In this study, antimicrobial and electromagnetic shielding properties of metal composite single jersey fabrics were investigated. For this purpose, stainless steel wire, copper wire, and metalized silver polyamide filament were commingled with textured polyester. The composite yarns were knitted to single jersey fabrics. Electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of samples was measured according to free space test method between 0.8 and 5.2 GHz frequency range. In addition, antibacterial and antifungal activity tests were performed for the overall technical characterization of composite fabrics. The effects of metal type, filament form on electromagnetic shielding effectiveness, and antimicrobial properties were examined. All composite fabrics showed electromagnetic shielding properties at different levels up to 35 dB in vertical direction. Fabrics including metalized multifilament yarn exhibit higher electromagnetic shielding effectiveness in both vertical and horizontal directions. In addition, antibacterial activity level of metalized silver polyamide and copper composite fabrics reached up to 99% against Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus. Furthermore, Aspergillus niger could not grow on these composite fabrics.

In this study, it was aimed to determine electromagnetic shielding effectiveness, antibacterial activity, surface resistivityand bending rigidity properties of 1×1 rib knitted fabrics. For this purpose, copper (Cu), stainless steel (SS) and silver(Ag) wires were commingled with two nylon filaments to produce metal composite yarns. 1×1 rib fabrics were producedby these composite yarns. Electromagnetic shielding effectiveness (EMSE), antibacterial activity, surface resistivity andbending rigidity of the composite knits were measured. Electromagnetic shielding measurements of samples wereconducted between 1.0–5.0 GHz frequency. Antibacterial activity test was applied according to AATCC 100 standardagainst K. pneumoniae and S. aureus bacteria. Results showed that knitted fabrics generally have lower SE values than10 dB at wale direction. The double layer samples provide higher EMSE than single layer samples for all metal types.Maximum EMSE value was obtained as 57.12 dB. The use of metal wire significantly reduced surface resistivity ofknitted fabrics. Copper composite knitted fabrics showed 99 % antibacterial activity against both bacterial species. Whencompared to the control sample, the use of metal wire significantly increased the rigidity of the samples.
