AbstractBy introducing hindered amine GW-622 or GW-944 into nitrile-butadiene rubber/phenolic resin (NBR/PR, abbreviated as NBPR) matrix, we have prepared different hindered amine/NBR/PR ternary hybrid damping materials with high-temperature damping performance, respectively. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and dynamic thermomechanical analysis (DMA) were used to research the microstructure, compatibility, and damping properties of the hindered amine/NBPR composites. FTIR results indicate that hydrogen bonds are formed between the hindered amine and the NBPR matrix. Both DSC and SEM results show that hindered amine has partial compatibility with the NBPR matrix. DMA results show that two loss peaks appear in the hindered amine/NBPR composite. Thereby, the composites show better damping performance at a higher temperature, and the temperature domain of high-temperature damping becomes wider with the increase in the addition of hindered amine. This study provides a theoretical support for the preparation of high-temperature damping materials.

Organo-montmorillonite (OMMT) was compounded with Hydrogenated Nitrile-Butadiene Rubber （HNBR）(50% epoxidation) to prepare nanocomposites by melt mixing method. The nanometer scales of organoclays in rubber matrix were determined by X-ray diffraction testing, the exfoliated/intercalated structures of OMMT in HNBR were confirmed by transmission elector microscopy. The increases in tensile module and strength of HNBR/OMMT nanocomposites vulcanizaters were caused by the better interactions between rubber macromolecule chains and organoclay layers. The air-aging properties of nanocomposites enhanced by the increasing content of OMMT, which was leaded by the barrier characterize of nanodisperse OMMT layers. DMA test showed that the Tgs of HNBR/OMMT shifted to a higher temperature, as verified by the crosslinking density determination.

Abstract Blends of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) and polyoxymethlene (POM) were prepared by melt mixing, with a polyether polyol (Model KGF400D) used as the compatibilizer. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to characterize the cryogenically fractured surfaces of the blends clearly, which showed that the compatibility of NBR/POM blends was significantly enhanced with the addition of KGF400D. Both differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and rubber process analysis (RPA) results clearly indicated the mechanism of compatibility improvement. Dual functions of KGF400D within the NBR/POM blends were found: one was the lubrication effect and the other was the hydrogen bonding between the hydroxyl of KGF400D and ether oxygen group of POM or lone pair electron in the cyano group of NBR.

Abstract Rising environmental issues and huge disposal of rubber waste have resulted in an increased interest in the usage of reclaimed rubber (RR) to produce sustainable and environmental friendly applications. In this study, incorporation of butyl reclaimed rubber into carboxylated nitrile butadiene rubber (XNBR/BRR) was carried out where the loadings of each XNBR and BRR were varied. The rubber was cured with sulphur during the melt mixing using a two-roll mill. This study is aimed to investigate the applied BRR loading towards the physical and mechanical properties of the XNBRcompounds. The results appeared that the optimum cure time (T90) increased and curing rate index (CRI) showed that a faster curing reaction with the increase in the content of BRR where the T90 had an increment of 89% while the CRI was faster by 89%. As for the crosslink density which indicates the density of chains or segments in polymer network, it decreased about 20% with increasing level of BRR. Also, the compression set which refers to the ability of rubber to resist permanent deformation, had an increase of 73% as the loading ratio of BRR increased. These results were obtained due to the low molecular weight of the BRR where the high shear and temperature during the reclamation process severely breaks down the molecular chains of the BRR into shorter segments. With the results obtained, it is shown that reclaimed rubber has the potential for further development and could increase the interest of researchers all around the world in the incorporation of reclaimed rubber for footwear application.

Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan Natural Rubber (NR) dan Epoxidation Natural Rubber (ENR-46) dengan kompatibiliser Chlorprene Rubber (CR) pada aplikasi kompon termoplastik Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) dan Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR), variabel penelitian meliputi ENR-46/PVC/NBR/CR, NR/PVC/NBR/CR dan CR-NR/PVC/NBR, CR-ENR-46/PVC/NBR. Parameter pengujian sifat fisik-mekanik : Hardness (Shore A), Tensile Strength (Mpa), Elongation at Break (%) dan ketahanan terhadap pelarut minyak (n-Pentane, Toluene, Hexane dan Pertalite). Hasil penelitian didapatkan untuk sifat fisik-mekanik, semakin banyak penambahan NR Kekerasan kompon termoplastik akan menurun, Tensile Strength dan Elongation at Break kompon akan meningkat begitu juga dengan CR-NR. Tetapi berbanding terbalik hasilnya untuk ENR-46 dan CR-ENR-46. Pengujian Ketahanan terhadap pelarut minyak semakin banyak penambahan ENR-46 Ketahanan kompon termoplastik terhadap pelarut akan meningkat, hasil yang sama juga pada CR-ENR-46. Tetapi berbanding terbalik hasilnya dengan penambahan NR dan CR-NR pada kompon termoplastik.

The results of study of the influence of hollow corundum microspheres HCM-S (5–100 µm) and HCM-L (70–180 µm) on the properties of nitrile butadiene rubber BNKS-18 are presented. The dependence of elastomer resistance to abrasion impact and physic and mechanical properties on the dispersion and concentration of hollow corundum microspheres is shown. The process of hollow corundum microspheres exfoliation of the elastomeric matrix, which largely determines the change of physic and mechanical properties, has been studied by specially developed stretching device compatible with an atomic force microscope. The paper describes microspheres exfoliation which is conventionally divided into 3 stages.
