In this paper, a polycarboxylic water reducing agent was synthesized by using Methylallyl polyethylene glycol (HPEG) with molecular weight of 1200, 2400, 2800 and 3400 under the same conditions, C80 concrete tests were performed on these four molecular weight superplasticizers, verify the effect of different molecular weight polycarboxylic acid water reducer in C80 pumping concrete, finally, a kind of low molecular weight polycarboxylic acid water reducer with viscosity reducing effect in high-grade concrete is obtained, which can promote pumping of high-grade concrete.

The valorization of by-products from natural organic sources is an international priority to respond to environmental and economic challenges. In this context, electrodialysis with filtration membrane (EDFM), a green and ultra-selective process, was used to separate peptides from salmon frame protein hydrolysate. For the first time, the simultaneous separation of peptides by three ultrafiltration membranes of different molecular-weight exclusion limits (50, 20, and 5 kDa) stacked in an electrodialysis system, allowed for the generation of specific cationic and anionic fractions with different molecular weight profiles and bioactivity responses. Significant decreases in peptide recovery, yield, and molecular weight (MW) range were observed in the recovery compartments depending on whether peptides had to cross one, two, or three ultrafiltration membranes. Moreover, the Cationic Recovery Compartment 1 fraction demonstrated the highest increase (42%) in glucose uptake on L6 muscle cells. While, in the anionic configuration, both Anionic Recovery Compartment 2 and Anionic Recovery Compartment 3 fractions presented a glucose uptake response in basal condition similar to the insulin control. Furthermore, Cationic Recovery Compartment 3 was found to contain inhibitory peptides. Finally, LC-MS analyses of the bioassay-guided bioactive fractions allowed us to identify 11 peptides from salmon by-products that are potentially responsible for the glucose uptake improvement.

Cotton fabric is processed for anti-ultraviolet finishing by using nanometer TiO2 of different crystalline structures, polyethylene glycol (PEG) and so on. The results show: under the same conditions, the adhesion amount of rutile nanometer TiO2 is more than anatase nanometer TiO2; with different TiO2/PEG concentrations and different molecular weight of PEG, the adhesion amount of TiO2 is different, furthermore both the laundry-resistant property and the photoaging property have different change.

Five heparin fractions of different molecular weight range were obtained from commercial sodium heparin (Sigma) by gel chromatography on Sephadex G-200. Each fraction was bound separately to Biogel A-15 m by the cyanogen bromide reaction. Microcolumns containing equal amounts of the individual heparin agarose batches were prepared. A protein fraction from human plasma containing antithrombin II/III but no fibrinogen, which was obtained by polyethylene glycol precipitation, was passed through the columns. After extensive washing with 0.15 and 0.3 M buffered sodium chloride antithrombin was eluted with 1.0 M buffered sodium chloride. The uptake of antithrombin did not differ greatly in all five heparin agarose preparations. However, the amount of antithrombin eluted with 1.0 M NaCl varied considerably depending on the insolubilized heparin fraction. Almost no antithrombin activity was eluted from the agarose grafted with the highest molecular weight heparin, while all of the antithrombin was recovered from the agarose with the intermediate molecular weight heparin. Our findings of different affinities of antithrombin to insolubilized heparin in dependance of its molecular weight suggest similar implications for the practical use of heparin in anticoagulant therapy.

Calcium lignosulfonate (CL) was separated into three fractions with different molecular weight by using ultrafiltration membranes, and the effect of the composition of commercial CL on the setting time of Portland cement with anhydrite was studied in this paper. Results show that the CL fraction with the cut-off molecular weight of less than 150 (CL-A) shortens setting time most. Further analysis indicates that the content of reducing sugar in CL-A reaches to 15.3%, including mannose, glucose, galactose, xylose and arabinose, and these five kinds of monosaccharides are found to be the main components of inducing quick set of cement. Ultrafiltration is an effective method to remove most of the reducing sugar in CL and weaken the quick set of Portland cement with anhydrite.

Nowadays alkali activated binders are one of alternative materials to Portland cement. Alkaline activation is a process when the material hardens in medium at pH>12. This paper presents the study of stability of different polymer admixtures (polypropylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol with different molecular weight, different modifications of commercial polymer admixtures VINNAPAS® and shrinkage-reducing Peramin SRA) in alkaline media NaOH at pH=12.42. The influence of the alkaline medium on the properties of polymer admixtures was examined by infrared spectroscopy. All types of VINNAPAS®, Peramin SRA are unstable in high alkaline media.
