This research carried out in Huong Vinh commune, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province aimed to identify types of land use and soil characteristics. Results showed that five crops are found in Huong Vinh commune including rice, peanut, sweet potato, cassava and vegetable. There are two major soil orders with four soil suborders classified by FAO in Huong Vinh commune including Fluvisols (Dystric Fluvisols<em>, </em>Gleyic Fluvisols and Cambic Fluvisols) and Arenosols (Haplic Arenosols). The results from soil analysis showed that three soil suborders including Dystric Fluvisols<em>, </em>Gleyic Fluvisols and Cambic Fluvisols belonging to Fluvisols were clay loam in texture, low pH, low in OC, total N, total P<sub>2</sub>O<sub>5</sub> and total K<sub>2</sub>O. Meanwhile, the Haplic Arenosols was loamy sand in texture, poor capacity to hold OC, total N, total P<sub>2</sub>O<sub>5</sub> and total K<sub>2</sub>O

Soil fertility determined by land management . Land use in the farmers to Beken Jaya in Kuantan Singingi has been going on for seven years to technique fertilizing not recommended, so it is important to knew soil chemical characteristic are now being to sustainable agriculture.This research in the soil samples uses the method purposive random sampling in 15 points gas drilling land as deep as 20 cm.Parameter examined is pH , C-organic , N-total , N-available and ratio C / N. All the data compared to table criteria of the chemical properties the ground by LPT 1993. Based on the results of the soil analysis in Agrowisata Beken Jaya can  be concluded features chemical pH 5,88 -6,41 ( criteria midle acid ) , C-organik 0.25 % - 1,18 % ( criteria very low until low ) , N-total 0,30 -1,16 % ( criteria moderate to very high ), and C/N 0,24-3,97 (criteria very low)

The effect of land uses on soil erodibility and soil loss of the Keana geological sediments of parts of Nasarawa State, Nigeria was investigated in this study. Geographic positioning system (GPS) was used to identify three land uses (agricultural, forested, and residential). Soil samples were collected from top soils at 0-30 cm depth using core sampler from 1 ha of each land use in 8 settlement communities (16 locations). Standard laboratory methods for soil analysis were followed for determination of Dispersion ratio, Erosion ration, Clay ratio and Modified clay ratio. Linear regression and correlation were used to determine the logical relationship between the erodibility index and corresponding soil loss. The soils from the study area were classified as sandy loam and sandy clay loam with high density, high permeability and porosity making them less vulnerable to shear stress. Dispersion ration (DR) modified clay ratio (MCR), Clay ratio (CR) and Erosion ratio (ER) where high, which suggests that soils from the study area are vulnerable to erosion at various degree of susceptibility.  Mean value of erodibility factor (K) and predicted soil loss of 0.0492, 0.0460 and 0.0357; 7.77, 7.20 and 5.48 tonnes/hectare/year  for agricultural, forested, and residential  lands respectively. The findings suggest that land uses influence the soil erodibility in the formation is in this order residential land > agricultural land > forested land use. The erosion class is ‘very low’ for forested (soils in this class have very slight to no erosion potential), ‘low’ (soil losses will occur) for agricultural and residential land uses respectively. These findings suggest that soil erodibility has been significantly influence by land use change in Keana geological sediment.

Land evaluation is one of the most important tools for integrated land use management for sustainable agricultural and land use planning. The aim of this study is to evaluate the land suitability for current land use in akkar plain- Tartous Governorate. Depending on the elevation and land use, nine soil profiles representing the main physiographic units have been chosen. Soil samples were collected for conducting some chemical and physical analyses such as: soil texture (sand%, silt% and clay%), the content of organic matter OM, Cation Exchange Capacity CEC (cmol(+)/kg -1clay). The results of the soil analysis showed that the soil texture was Clay, and the pH values were between 7.13-8.5. Furthermore, The cation exchange capacity were ranging from (12-33) (cmol(+)/kg -1clay). Results of land evaluation showed that the limiting factors either fertility factors such as high pH in the villages of Beit-kamouna, Majdaloun-albaher and Dier-hbash, or physical factors such as shallowness depth of soil. The study concluded that the suitability class ranged from S2 to N2, which emphasis the importance of reconsidering the type of land use in the study area.

The Deli Serdang Regency produces amongst the highest amounts of rice in the province of North Sumatera in Indonesia. Due to land use change and stagnant productivity, the total rice land area and its production have gradually decreased over the years. Hence, understanding this issue is crucial, especially to ensure the sustainability of rice production in the future. The objectives of this study were to identify the trends in land use change (especially regarding rice land) and to investigate the factors affecting rice land change. We classified the satellite images acquired for the years 1989, 1994, 2003, 2009, and 2018 to determine the total area of various land uses. The factors driving rice land change were analyzed using biophysical and socio-economic factors identified from the collected primary and secondary data. The primary data were derived from field surveys, soil analysis, and household surveys, and the secondary data were derived from the Statistical Institution of the Deli Serdang Regency. Correlation analysis, principle component analysis, binary logistic regression, normalization, and weighted index were used to investigate the factors driving rice land change. The results show that forest and rice land have continuously decreased, while plantations and urban areas have continuously increased over this period. We found that the majority of rice land has been converted to plantation expansion and urban development, especially from 2009 to 2018. The factors most affecting rice land change were the distance of rice land to the district capital, the distance of rice land to the provincial capital, population density, slope, and the distance of farmers’ rice land to a road. A suitability map for rice land was generated. All the outputs could help with making appropriate strategic decisions to achieve sustainable land use management, especially for rice land.
