In a double resonance experiment the gJ-factor of the excited state of Lu I 5d6s6p (1D) 2D3/2 , has been measured: gJ {(1D)2D3/2} = 0.874(5). This value deviates considerably from its value in Russel- Saunders coupling. The lifetime of this state is (4.88 ± 0.10) x 10-8 s.
