This new dry magnetic separator has a special structure. It has many magnetic roll which are staggered like a stairsteps. It can finish the task of separating different minerals with only this one machine. And also it can make the different magnetic material which are in the same mineral separate at the same time. The permanent magnet system is made of large fan-shaped magnet. The magnet pole N and S are staggered and has perfect performance of magnetic separation. And the magnetic force is made full use by going-up dynamic separation. And also it gives an analysis of stress in the magnetic field. It also shows that its separation idex is better, the economic benefits are obvious, and it has broader prospects of popularization and application.

A new high-voltage electron microscope (H-1500) specially aiming at super-high-resolution (1.0 Å point-to-point resolution) is now installed in National Institute for Research in Inorganic Materials ( NIRIM ), in collaboration with Hitachi Ltd. The national budget of about 1 billion yen including that for a new building has been spent for the construction in the last two years (1988-1989). Here we introduce some essential characteristics of the microscope.(1) According to the analysis on the magnetic field in an electron lens, based on the finite-element-method, the spherical as well as chromatic aberration coefficients ( Cs and Cc ). which enables us to reach the resolving power of 1.0Å. have been estimated as a function of the accelerating As a result of the calculaton. it was noted that more than 1250 kV is needed even when we apply the highest level of the technology and materials available at present. On the other hand, we must consider the protection against the leakage of X-ray. We have then decided to set the conventional accelerating voltage at 1300 kV. However. the maximum accessible voltage is 1500 kV, which is practically important to realize higher voltage stabillity. At 1300 kV it is expected that Cs= 1.7 mm and Cc=3.4 mm with the attachment of the specimen holder, which tilts bi-axially in an angle of 35° ( Fig.1 ). In order to minimize the value of Cc a small tank is additionally placed inside the generator tank, which must serve to seal the magnetic field around the acceleration tube. An electron gun with LaB6 tip is used.

In the linear and planar motors, the 1D Halbach magnet array is extensively used. The sinusoidal property of the magnetic field deteriorates by analyzing the magnetic field at a small air gap. Therefore, a new 1D Halbach magnet array is proposed, in which the permanent magnet with a curved surface is applied. Based on the superposition of principle and Fourier series, the magnetic flux density distribution is derived. The optimized curved surface is obtained and fitted by a polynomial. The sinusoidal magnetic field is verified by comparing it with the magnetic flux density of the finite element model. Through the analysis of different dimensions of the permanent magnet array, the optimization result has good applicability. The force ripple can be significantly reduced by the new magnet array. The effect on the mass and air gap is investigated compared with a conventional magnet array with rectangular permanent magnets. In conclusion, the new magnet array design has the scalability to be extended to various sizes of motor and is especially suitable for small air gap applications.

This paper contains a design of an aluminum solenoid magnet system capable of producing a field of 300 000 Oe over a bore of 5.8 cm. The magnetic field is produced by a two-region solenoid operated at 15 °K and cooled by compressed helium gas. Details of the structure are described, and calculations are given for all important parts of the cooling system. The magnet is designed for a total operating time at maximum power of at least 40 minutes in a week. The low capital expense of the system makes it suitable for installation in small laboratories.

Magnetic bead droplet's non-contacted manipulation can be realized in Electromagnetic MEMS, but how to achieve magnetic beads manipulation is the major problem. A new method of multi-layered flat coils coupled with permanent magnet was proposed. Firstly, the theory of magnetic bead manipulation was analyzed and the main factors affected the magnetic beads manipulation was identified; then the magnetic field of multi-layered flat coils and Stokes viscous resistance of magnetic beads were analyzed and simulated quantificationally; finally the magnetic bead capture area was got under different flow velocity. Consequently the feasibility and correctness of this method was verified.

The image of magnetic field is traditionally obtained by spreading magnetic powder manually or by sparse arrays of magnetic needles, obtaining the images of the magnetic field in different permanent magnet shapes and do repeated tests on the permanent magnet are in need. Based on programmable logic controller (PLC) motion control, the servo control and mechanical system have been built, the control strategy is discussed and the software is programmed. 2D FEM model of a test permanent magnet bar is built. Compared with the FEM simulation results, the system has achieved the goal that spreading magnetic powder quickly and evenly in the appointed area.

Several constructions of electromagnetic actuators with moving permanent magnet for Braille screen are studied. All they are formed from a basic one that consists of two coils, core and moving permanent magnet. The finite element method is used for modeling of the magnetic field and for obtaining the electromagnetic force acting on the mover. The static force-stroke characteristics are obtained for four different constructions of the actuator. The constructions with ferromagnetic disc between the coils ensure greater force than the ones without disc and can reach the required minimum force.

AbstractUVMag is a medium-size space telescope equipped with a high-resolution spectropolarimetrer working in the UV and visible domains. It will be proposed to ESA for a future M mission. It will allow scientists to study all types of stars as well as e.g. exoplanets and the interstellar medium. It will be particularly useful for massive stars, since their spectral energy distribution peaks in the UV. UVMag will allow us to study massive stars and their circumstellar environment (in particular the stellar wind) spectroscopically in great details. Moreover, with UVMag's polarimetric capabilities we will be able, for the first time, to measure the magnetic field of massive stars simultaneously at the stellar surface and in the wind lines, i.e. to completely map their magnetosphere.
