Previous research showed that pulsed functional magnetic stimulation can activate brain tissue with optimum intensity and frequency. Conventional stimulation coils are always set as a figure-8 type or Helmholtz. However, the magnetic fields generated by these coils are uniform around the target, and their magnetic stimulation performance still needs improvement. In this paper, a novel type of stimulation coil is proposed to shrink the irritative zone and strengthen the stimulation intensity. Furthermore, the electromagnetic field distribution is calculated and measured. Based on numerical simulations, the proposed coil is compared to traditional coil types. Moreover, the influential factors, such as the diameter and the intersection angle, are also analyzed. It was demonstrated that the proposed coil has a better performance in comparison with the figure-8 coil. Thus, this work suggests a new way to design stimulation coils for transcranial magnetic stimulation.

In order to compensate the large leakage inductance and improve the power transmission capacity, capacitors are widely used in inductive power transfer (IPT) systems, which results in high voltage or current stresses in the resonant tanks and limits higher volt-ampere (VA) rating of the transfer power, especially in medium and low frequency applications. This paper presents a symmetrical half-bridge resonant converter (SHRC) for series-series/series compensated IPT systems with detailed analysis and design. It operates at a relatively low frequency of 12.5 kHz, suitable for IGBT applications. The theoretical analysis shows that, compared with full-bridge resonant converter (FRC) for IPT, the symmetrical half-bridge resonant converter achieves a higher efficiency. Simulation and a prototype of 1500 W power output were built to verify the theoretical analysis. The experimental results show that the power loss of SHRC is 39.7 W while that of FRC is 79.4 W, which is consistent with the theoretical analysis. The global efficiency of the IPT based on the proposed converter is 91.6%.

This paper has analyzed the movement of the crank-rocker mechanism by a simple finite element model, to study the establishing of the model and the constraints imposed. It has simulated the movement by software ANSYS, and gets the results which is consistent to the theoretical analysis. It accesses kinematical and dynamic characteristics for the mechanism, and provides the necessary foundation to analysis and design of the complex machinery.

This paper proposes to use Routh-Hurwitz stability criterion for analysis and design of the operational amplifier stability; this can lead to explicit stability condition derivation for operational amplifier circuit parameters, and this is very effective to understand which parameter values should be increased or decreased for the operational amplifier stability. The proposed method has been verified by three amplifiers with theoretical analysis and SPICE simulations for three operational amplifier examples.
