Let H be a finite dimensional C∗-Hopf algebra and A the observable algebra of Hopf spin models. For some coaction of the Drinfeld double D(H) on A, the crossed product A⋊D(H)^ can define the field algebra F of Hopf spin models. In the paper, we study C∗-basic construction for the inclusion A⊆F on Hopf spin models. To achieve this, we define the action α:D(H)×F→F, and then construct the resulting crossed product F⋊D(H), which is isomorphic A⊗End(D(H)^). Furthermore, we prove that the C∗-basic construction for A⊆F is consistent to F⋊D(H), which yields that the C∗-basic constructions for the inclusion A⊆F is independent of the choice of the coaction of D(H) on A.

SummaryDeterminations by immunologic methods of histidine-rich glycoprotein (HRG) and plasminogen, were made in plasma samples collected during one normal or hormone induced cycle in 15 young, normal women and in 11 women using oral contraceptives with 30 μg ethinyl estradiol and 150 μg levo-norgestrel. The hormone group showed an increase in plasminogen level to about 150% of normal, while the concentration of HRG was decreased to about 75% of normal. This resulted in a considerable relative increase in the concentration of free plasminogen in the hormone group (calculated from the equilibrium: HRG·plasminogen ⇌ HRG + plasminogen, using KD = 1.0 μM), representing a doubling of that in the normal group. Hence, more plasminogen is available for binding to fibrin and activation in the hormone group.

Abstract Background The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of osteosarcopenia in the over 60-year-old community and to evaluate whether osteosarcopenia is associated with disability, frailty and depression. Methods This study was performed using the baseline data of Namgaram-2, among the 1010 surveyed subjects, 885 study subjects who were 60 years or older and had all necessary tests performed were selected. The Kaigo-Yobo checklist (frailty), World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS) and Geriatric Depression Scale-Short Form-Korean (GDSSF-K) were used. The Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS 2019) were applied in this study. Osteopenia was measured using data from dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) and osteopenia was diagnosed when the T-score was less than − 1.0. The study subjects were divided into four groups: the normal group, in which both sarcopenia and osteopenia were undiagnosed, osteopenia only, sarcopenia only and the osteosarcopenia group, which was diagnosed with both sarcopenia and osteopenia. Results Of the 885 subjects over 60 years old evaluated, the normal group comprised 34.0%, the only osteopenia group 33.7%, the only sarcopenia group 13.1%, and the osteosarcopenia group 19.2%. WHODAS (17.5, 95% CI: 14.8-20.1), Kaigo-Yobo (3.0, 95% CI: 2.6-3.4), and GDSSF mean score (4.6, 95% CI: 3.9-5.4) were statistically significantly higher in the osteosarcopenia group compared the other groups. Partial eta squared (ηp2) of WHODAS (0.199) and Kaigo-Yobo (0.148) values ​​according to Osteosarcopenia were large, and GDSSF (0.096) was medium Conclusions Osteosarcopenia is a relatively common disease group in the older adults community that may cause deterioration of health outcomes. Therefore, when evaluating osteopenia or sarcopenia in the older adults, management of those in both disease groups should occur together.

Mandibular prognathism causes functional and esthetic problems. Therefore, many studies have been conducted to understand its etiology. Following our previous study, which revealed that the major characteristic of the mandible with prognathism is the volume/length ratio of the mandibular body and condyle, we analyzed the volume and orientation of the masseter muscle, which inserts into the mandibular body, expecting that the difference in the size of the masseter muscle causes the difference in the mandibular size. This study compared the masseter muscle of the participants in the prognathic group to those in the normal group on the volume/length ratio and orientation. The masseter muscle ratios (volume/length); the angle between the superficial and deep head of the masseter muscle; and the three planes (the palatal, occlusal, and mandibular) were analyzed. A total of 30 participants constituted the normal group (male: 15, female: 15) and 30 patients, the prognathic group (male: 15, female: 15). The results showed that the volume/length ratio of the masseter of the normal group was greater than that of the prognathic group (p < 0.05). In addition, the orientation of both the superficial and deep head of the masseter of the participants in the normal group was more vertical with respect to the mandibular plane than that of the prognathic group (p < 0.05). We concluded that the mechanical disadvantage of the masseter muscle of the prognathic group is attributed to mandibular prognathism.

Abstract Background The purpose of this study was to investigate the application value of serum 25(OH)D3, uric acid, triglyceride (TG), and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) in male patients with hyperuricemia combined with hypogonadism. Methods From August 2018 to August 2020, a total of 198 male patients with primary hyperuricemia were prospectively enrolled in our hospital for inpatient treatment in the department of Metabolism and Endocrinology. They are divided into normal gonadal function group (normal group, n = 117) and hypogonadal function group (hypogonadism group, n = 81), according to free testosterone (FT) level, International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5), and androgen deficiency in the aging male (ADAM) questionnaires. Laboratory indexes were compared between two groups. Multivariate logistic regression was applied to analyze the influencing factors of hypogonadism. Results Among the 198 hyperuricemia patients, 40.91 % were hypogonadism. Compared with the normal group, the BMI, waist circumference (WC), and the prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), hyperlipidemia (HLP), and obesity (OB) in the hypogonadism group were higher, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05, respectively). The levels of fasting plasma glucose (FPG), fasting insulin (FINS), homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), triacylglycerol (TG), serum uric acid (SUA), alanine transaminase (ALT) of hypogonadism group were higher than those of normal group, while the levels of TT, FT, E2, 25(OH)D3 of hypogonadism group were lower than those of normal group (P < 0.05, respectively). Pearson’s linear correlation was used to analyze the correlation between the indicators with significant differences in general data and laboratory indicators and hypogonadism. BMI, WC, HOMA-IR, TG, SUA, TT, FT, 25(OH)D3, E2 were positively correlated with hypogonadism (r = 0.556, 0.139, 0.473, 0.143, 0.134, 0.462, 0.419, 0.572, 0.601, P = 0.012, 0.027, 0.018, 0.019, 0.028, 0.029, 0.030, 0.009, 0.003, respectively). Taking the above indicators as independent variables and hypogonadism as the dependent variable, logistic regression analysis found that the risk factors for hypogonadism were SUA, WC, BMI, HOMA-IR, TG, TT, FT, E2, and 25(OH) D3. Conclusions Serum 25(OH)D3, SUA, HOMA-IR, TG levels were positively correlated with male hyperuricemia patients with hypogonadism. They have important application value in the diagnosis of male hyperuricemia patients with hypogonadism.

Background/Aims: To evaluate the effect of Liuweibuqi capsules on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) through the JAK/STAT pathway. Methods: Lung function was measured with a spirometer. Changes in lung histology were observed using H&E staining. Cigarette smoke extract combined with lipopolysaccharide (CSE+LPS) was used to establish the cellular COPD model. Cytokine levels were determined using ELISA, and changes in the JAK/STAT pathway were evaluated using western blotting. The CCK8 method and flow cytometry were used to measure cell viability and apoptosis, respectively. Results: Liuweibuqi capsules reduced the damage in the lung tissues and the loss of lung function in the COPD rats. Additionally, the levels of interleukin (IL)-1β, interferon γ (IFNγ), IL-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 were higher, whereas IL-10 was lower in the model control (MC) and CSE+LPS groups than in the normal group. The phosphorylation levels of JAK1, JAK2, STAT1, STAT3 and STAT5 were higher and the levels of SOCS1 and SOCS3 were lower in the MC group and CSE+LPS group compared with the normal group. After Liuweibuqi capsule treatment, the expression of inflammatory cytokines and elements of the JAK/STAT pathway were lower. In addition, over-expression of STAT3 blocked the effects of the Liuweibuqi capsules on the release of inflammatory cytokines, cell viability and apoptosis. Conclusion: Our findings suggested that Liuweibuqi capsule might effectively ameliorate the progression of COPD via the JAK/STAT pathway.

Objective: To verify the ability of the deep learning model in identifying five subtypes and normal images in noncontrast enhancement CT of intracranial hemorrhage. Method: A total of 351 patients (39 patients in the normal group, 312 patients in the intracranial hemorrhage group) performed with intracranial hemorrhage noncontrast enhanced CT were selected, with 2768 images in total (514 images for the normal group, 398 images for the epidural hemorrhage group, 501 images for the subdural hemorrhage group, 497 images for the intraventricular hemorrhage group, 415 images for the cerebral parenchymal hemorrhage group, and 443 images for the subarachnoid hemorrhage group). Based on the diagnostic reports of two radiologists with more than 10 years of experience, the ResNet-18 and DenseNet-121 deep learning models were selected. Transfer learning was used. 80% of the data was used for training models, 10% was used for validating model performance against overfitting, and the last 10% was used for the final evaluation of the model. Assessment indicators included accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and AUC values. Results: The overall accuracy of ResNet-18 and DenseNet-121 models were 89.64% and 82.5%, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of identifying five subtypes and normal images were above 0.80. The sensitivity of DenseNet-121 model to recognize intraventricular hemorrhage and cerebral parenchymal hemorrhage was lower than 0.80, 0.73, and 0.76 respectively. The AUC values of the two deep learning models were above 0.9. Conclusion: The deep learning model can accurately identify the five subtypes of intracranial hemorrhage and normal images, and it can be used as a new tool for clinical diagnosis in the future.

Abstract Objectives: Avoidance of residual neuromuscular blockade (RNMB) is crucial to decrease anesthesia-related pulmonary complications. At present, no data are available for HIV-infected patients about the occurrence of RNMB. In this trial, we aim to investigate the incidence of RNMB in such patients. Methods: Data were prospectively collected on 45 normal and 45 HIV-infected patients (18-65 yr). The train-of-four stimulation (TOF-Watch SX) was used to evaluate the level of neuromuscular block from the induction of anesthesia to back to the postanesthesia care unit (PACU) by an assessor, but blind to the anesthesiologist. Primary endpoint was the presence of RNMB at PACU admission, defined as a train-of-four (TOF) ratio < 0.9. The onset time (from application of cisatracurium to maximum depression of T1), no reaction time (from zero of T1 to non-zero), and clinical duration (from application to 25% recovery of T1) were determined for each patient. Results: The incidence of RNMB was 37.5% in HIV- infected patients and 32.5% in normal patients (difference, 5%; 99% CI, −16% to 26 1%; p=0.815). The onset time was no different between two groups (4.05±0.88 min in HIV-infected group vs. 3.85±1.08 min in normal group (p=0.37)). The no reaction time was also similarly between two groups ( 49.83±3.81min in HIV-infected group vs. 48.98±5.12min in normal group (p=0.40)). The clinical duration was 53.78±3.05 min and 52.40±5.02 min in HIV-infected group and normal group, respectively (p=0.14). Conclusion: The odds of RNMB were not significantly different in HIV-infected young patients compared to normal persons.

Background: Ceftriaxone is known to induce reversible precipitations, called billiary sludge or pseudolithiasis in the gall bladder.Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of biliary sludge and factors that contribute to this side effect in children. Methodology: This study was conducted on 50 consecutive children who were admitted at paediatric department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for different illness and who received ceftriaxone in different dosage and duration. Ultraso-nography of hepatobiliary system was done before and at the end of therapy. Children who developed biliary sludge, a third ultrasonography was done after one month. Results: Biliary sludge was found in 4 (08%) of 50 children which resolved within 30 days of cessation of therapy. The mean dose and duration of ceftriaxone in these four children were 92.5±9.6 mg/kg/day and 8.0±2.0 days respectively while it was 78.5±5.2 mg/kg/day and 6.1±1.2 days respectively rest 46 children who did not develop biliary sludge (p<0.05). The mean age of children in sludge formation group was 8.3±2.1 years while it was 5.6±1.6 years in the normal group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Biliary sludge was found in older children who got higher doses of ceftriaxone for a longer period and it was reversible in all the studied children. Almost all cervical cancers are associated with human papillomavirus (HPV); however, the majority of women infected with this virus do not develop cervical cancer. Therefore, new markers are needed for reliable screening of cervical cancer, especially in relation to HPV infection. We aimed to identify potential microRNAs that may serve as diagnostic markers for cervical cancer development in high-risk HPV-positive patients. We evaluated the microRNA expression profiles in 12 cervical tissues using the hybridization method and verified them by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Finally, we evaluated the effects of HPV16 oncoproteins on the expression of selected microRNAs using cervical cancer cells (CaSki and SiHa) and RNA interference. With the hybridization method, eight microRNAs (miR-9-5p, miR-136-5p, miR-148a-3p, miR-190a-5p, miR-199b-5p, miR-382-5p, miR-597-5p, and miR-655-3p) were found to be expressed differently in the HPV16-positive cervical cancer group and HPV16-positive normal group (fold change ≥ 2). The results of qPCR showed that miR-148a-3p, miR-190a-5p, miR-199b-5p, and miR-655-3p levels significantly decreased in the cancer group compared with the normal group. Upon silencing of HPV16 E5 and E6/E7, miR-148a-3p levels increased in both cell lines. Silencing of E6/E7 in SiHa cells led to the increase in miR-199b-5p and miR-190a-5p levels. Three HPV16 oncoproteins (E5, E6, and E7) downregulate miR-148a-3p, while E6/E7 inhibit miR-199b-5p and miR-190a-5p expression in cervical carcinoma. The three microRNAs, miR-148a-3p, miR-199b-5p, and miR-190a-5p, may be novel diagnostic biomarkers for cervical cancer development in high-risk HPV-positive patients.
