The assessment of Psidium guajava leaf extract as corrosion inhibitor for Al-Si- Mg (SSM-HPDC) alloy in 3.5%wt NaCl solution using the gravimetric based-mass loss and potentiodynamic polarization techniques was investigated. The gravimetric based mass loss test was carried out at different inhibitor concentration, time and temperature ranges of 0.1-0.5%v/v, 1-5 hrs and 30-70oC, respectively, the results revealed that Psidium guajava leaf extract in 3.5%wt NaCl solution-aluminium environment decreased the corrosion rate at various concentrations considered. Inhibition efficiency (IE) as high as 63.17% at 0.5% v/v Psidium guajava leaf extract addition using the gravimetric method was demonstrated in 3.5%wt NaCl solution. The IE of 90.48% was obtained at 0.5%v/v using the potentiodynamic polarization method. The additions of Psidium guajava leaf extract as corrosion inhibitor in the solution indicate higher potential value, IE and polarization resistance with decrease in current density. The two methods used for assessment of the aluminium alloy corrosion behaviour were in agreement and mixed-type corrosion exists which obeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.

The main focus of this work is to study and evaluate the corrosion behavior of aluminium alloy 7075 under slightly varying temperature conditions. The corrosion behavior was found out using the Salt Mist test. Aluminium alloy 7075 possesses better corrosion resistance, so it is important to foresee the corrosion behavior of this alloy for varied applications. The Corrosion Penetration Rate was evaluated for the small temperature changes and the results show that the penetration rate increases as temperature increases gradually along with the time for which the specimens are tested. The final result is that aluminium alloy 7075 follows logarithmic law of corrosion at low temperatures.

The effect of 1,5-diphenylthiocarbazone (dithizone) as an eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor for protection of AA7075 aluminium alloy in chloride containing aggressive environment was studied by means of weight-loss, electrochemical measurements and Raman spectroscopy. The results indicate that the addition of dithizone decreases significantly the corrosion rate of AA7075 alloy, with efficiency proportional to the inhibitor concentration. The polarization curves show that dithizone works as mixed-type inhibitor to slow down the anodic and cathodic reaction kinetic. The morphology revealed by scanning electron microscopy and the Raman spectroscopy analysis clearly shows that the inhibitor contributes in the formation of a stable protective film on the AA7075 alloy due to the adsorption of dithizone molecules on aluminium alloy surface obeying Langmuir adsorption isotherm.

The corrosion behavior of CuCr, CuZr and CuCrZr alloys in NaCl solution is reported in this paper. The corrosion performance has been evaluated in NaCl solution atmosphere. The results show the corrosion resistance of pure copper decrease with the addition of the alloying elements initially. However, in the later exposure stages, the corrosion resistance of CuZr and CuCrZr alloy deteriorates significantly while the corrosion resistance of CuCr alloy is slightly better than that of pure copper. In addition, the results of the electrochemical experiments indicate that the different behavior for the element Cr and Zr in the base material and corrosion scales lead to the change of the corrosion resistance.
