We compared diets of white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus ochrourus), Rocky Mountain elk (Cervus elaphus nelsoni), and Shiras moose (Alces alces shirasi) during two winters in the North Fork of the Flathead Valley, Montana. Diets of white-tailed deer contained the greatest proportions of low-lying evergreen shrubs, as well as high proportions of coniferous browse. Elk selected greater proportions of grasses than did white-tailed deer or moose, whereas moose consumed the greatest proportion of deciduous shrubs. Deep snow in 1982 increased the similarity of diets chosen by white-tailed deer, elk, and moose. In 1982, white-tailed deer and elk consumed more total browse, and moose more coniferous browse, as deep snow covered the preferred forages. Increased dietary overlap and energy limitations suggested a potential for interspecific competition during harsh winters.

Abstract—We present a new species, Turnera fasciculifolia, from the Jalapão region, the largest continuous protected area of Cerrado in Tocantins State, in central Brazil. The new species belongs to Turnera series Leiocarpae, and it can be recognized by the linear ericoid leaves with revolute margin, generally without extrafloral nectaries, and the basal leaves of the young axillary branches gathered in fascicles. We provide a description, illustrations, a distribution map, and a comparison with T. genistoides and T. revoluta, which also have ericoid leaves.

Abstract In this paper authors describe in details a system dedicated to scene configuration. The user can define different important 2D regions of the scene. There is a possibility to define the following kinds of regions: flour, total covering, down covering, up covering, middle covering, entrance/exit, protected area, prohibited area, allowed direction, prohibited direction, reflections, moving objects, light source, wall and sky. The definition of this regions is very important to further analysis of live stream camera data in the guardian video system.

The paper provides the data on aphyllophoroid fungi of the State Nature Reserve «Kurgalsky» situated in the Kingisepp District of the Leningrad Region. The list includes 285 species annotated by data on their habitats, substrates and frequency. In total 25 species protected in the Leningrad Region and 3 species protected in Russian Federation were found in the protected area. Chaetodermella luna, Phlebia subochracea and Trechispora stevensonii are published for the first time for the Leningrad Region. The specimens of selected species are kept in the Mycological Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute RAS (LE).

The paper provides the data on mosses of the State Nature Reserve ”Kurgalskiy” situated in the Kingisepp District of the Leningrad Region. The list includes 136 species. Among them Plagiothecium nemorale is new for the Leningrad Region, 83 species are recorded for the first time for the protected area, 12 species are protected in the region, Aulacomnium androgynum is protected in Russia. Of the protected species, Plagiothecium latebricola is recorded for the first time for the protected area. Data on habitats, substrates and frequency of every species are provided.
