Aims: To develop an efficient protocol, which involves an elegant exploration of the catalytic potential of both the room temperature and surfactant ionic liquids towards the synthesis of biologically important derivatives of 2-aminothiazole. Objective: Specific heat capacity data as a function of temperature for the synthesized 2- aminothiazole derivatives has been advanced by exploring their thermal profiles. Method: The thermal gravimetry analysis and differential scanning calorimetry techniques are used systematically. Results: The present strategy could prove to be a useful general strategy for researchers working in the field of surfactants and surfactant based ionic liquids towards their exploration in organic synthesis. In addition to that, effect of electronic parameters on the melting temperature of the corresponding 2-aminothiazole has been demonstrated with the help of thermal analysis. Specific heat capacity data as a function of temperature for the synthesized 2-aminothiazole derivatives has also been reported. Conclusion: Melting behavior of the synthesized 2-aminothiazole derivatives is to be described on the basis of electronic effects with the help of thermal analysis. Additionally, the specific heat capacity data can be helpful to the chemists, those are engaged in chemical modelling as well as docking studies. Furthermore, the data also helps to determine valuable thermodynamic parameters such as entropy and enthalpy.

The structure of single crystals of the organic metals α- and β-(BEDT-TTF)2I3* was determined at 100 K, well below the phase transitions indicated by resistivity and thermopower measurements as well as by differential thermal analysis. In the α-phase no unusual change of the room temperature unit cell but a slight variation in the triiodide network and especially a more pronounced dimerization in one of the two donor stacks have been found. The β-phase develops a superstructure with a unit cell volume three times as large as that at room temperature and with pronounced distortions of the I3--ions.

Mechanical alloying (MA) method has been used to produce nanocrystallite Mn -15at.% Al alloy. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns for the as-milled elemental α- Mn and aluminum powder samples show a mixture of α + β- MnAl phases after 20 h of milling and changes to a dominant β- MnAl phase structure after 50 h. An average crystallite size of 40 nm was determined from Hall–Williamson method analysis after 5 h of milling. Moreover, the thermal analysis results using differential thermal analysis (DTA), suggested a possible phase transformation after 20 h of milling. Isothermal treatments are carried in the temperature range of 450°C to 1000°C. Room-temperature vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) measurements of the hysteretic response revealed that the saturation magnetization Bs and coercivity Hc for 10 h ball milled sample are ~ 2.1 emu/g and ~ 92 Oe, respectively.

AbstractThermal analyses of samples of thorium dicarbide in equilibrium with graphite show arrests which indicate phase transitions at 1427 ± 21°C arid 1481 ± 28°C. These thermal effects have been observed on heating and cooling both in standard thermal analysis and in differential thermal analysis using graphite as a reference material. The microstructure of thorium dicarbide samples shows the characteristic “herringbone” pattern of a material which has undergone a martensitic-type transition.A high-temperature X-ray investigation has revealed that the observed thermal arrests correspond to erystallographic transformations. The monodinic modification found at room temperature is stable to 1427°C, at which temperature a tetragonal modification with a0 = 4.235 ± 0.002Å and c0 = 5.408 ± 0.002Å is formed. At 1481°C, the tetragonal is transformed to cubic with a0 = 5.809 ± 0.002 Å. The best agreement between observed and calculated intensities has been obtained with C-C units of 1.5-Å assumed bond length in space groups P42/mmc and Pa3 for the tetragonal and cubic modifications, respectively.

The paper introduces the possibility to replace the “wet alloy”, used for sprinkler-triggering within automatic fire protection systems, with a shape memory alloy (SMA) type. The idea of the present application is based on the thermoelastic reversible martensitic transformation, governing SMA functioning, which has completely reversible character, and enables the occurrence of two-way shape memory effect (TWSME) after the application of a thermomechanical treatment called “training”. For this purpose a commercial NiTi rod, which was martensitic at room temperature, was subjected to thermal analysis tests, performed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dilatometry. Martensite (M) reversion to parent phase (A), during heating, was emphasized by an endothermic peak on the DSC thermogram and by a length shrinkage, on the dilatogram. The capacity to develop TWSME was revealed by the change in displacement-temperature variation, with increasing the number of training cycles. This stabilized fully reversible behavior recommends NiTi rods as executive elements of a new concept of resettable sprinkler for fire protection.

Abstract The phase transition temperatures were determined by differential thermal analysis and hot stage polarization microscopy between room temperature and the isotropic liquid region for the binary systems of lead (II) decanoate with zinc (II) or cadmium (II) decanoate. The boundaries of the liquid crystal formation in these systems were found.
