The purpose of this study is the analysis of limit situation in the narrative of war. The material of the study is the novel of Daniil Granin “My Lieutenant” and related texts. In the first part of the paper, the authors explore existing approaches to the term “limit situation” and similar concepts into scientific and philosophical traditions; limits of its applicability in literary studies and its relation to the categories of “narrative instances” and “event”. Proposed a literary-theoretical definition of the limit situation, which can be used in the analysis of fiction texts. Existing approaches to the examination of the situation of war are analyzed: philosophical-existential, psychoanalytic, sociological, literary. In the second part of the paper, the authors propose their method for analyzing limit situations in texts about war, which basis on existing approaches and preserves the text-centric principle of studying the structure of the story. Two interrelated areas of research have been identified: the study of war as a continuous limit situation in the intertextual aspect (the discourse of war); the study of limit situations (death, suffering, guilt, accident) in the narrative of war as part of a specific text. In the third part of the scientific work,the analysis of war as a continuous limit situation results in the study of the concept of “limit” (border) in a fiction text. The role of “limit” (border) concept in the texts about the war is studied, the possible types of limits in the discourse of war are examined. Limit situations in the narrative of war are analyzed on the basis of the novel “My Lieutenant” by Daniil Granin. A review of journalistic and scientific works about the novel revealed both the continuity and the differences between the novel and the “lieutenant” prose of the 20th century. An analysis of the limit situations in the novel revealed their key position in the narrative. These situations are independent of the fiction time, of the fluctuation of the point of view’; the function of the abstract author is to build the narrative as a “directive” immersion of the hero and narrator in these situations.

This paper explores the 'delicate empiricism' proposed by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Goethe's scientific work provided an alternative epistemology to that of conventional science. The author discusses the Goethean way of knowing. Particular emphasis is given to the changed understanding of process, form and participation that results from employing the epistemology expressed by Goethe. A methodology for Goethean science is introduced and its applications and their implications are explored. Goethe's "zarte Empirie" — his delicate empiricism - legitimises and organizes the role of imagination, intuition and inspiration in science. It may contribute significantly to the emerging participatory and holistic worldview, and to providing knowledge that is in tune with nature. This paper explores how and why.

François-Vincent Raspail (1794–1878) and Theodor Schwann (1810–1882) postulated—in 1827 and 1838, respectively—that plants and animals consist of, and originate from, cells. Whereas Raspail is mainly remembered for his involvement in the revolutions of 1830 and 1848, little is known about his scientific work. Schwann, by contrast, is regarded as one of the founders of cell theory, but historians of biology have hardly taken his philosophical, religious, and political ideas into account. Paying particular attention to Schwann’s unpublished writings, this paper reconstructs the research agendas of Raspail and Schwann, and contrasts the philosophical and political beliefs and incentives behind them. Whereas Raspail was a proponent of republicanism and materialism, Schwann opposed the modernist agenda of explaining nature and humankind without God, as well a democratic reshaping of society. Contrary to the prevailing historical narrative, this paper argues that cell theory did not emerge exclusively in conjunction with the rise of liberalism and materialism. Rather, the idea of a unifying principle of organic development encompassed different and even antagonistic visions of nature, humankind, society, and the role of religion in science. This article focuses on the history of the Turkestan Collection and the work of Vladimir Izmailovich Mejov, who laid the foundation stone for its creation. The article also elaborates on Mejov’s origins, how he formed the collection, the government’s attitude to him, and the reasons whyhe didn’t make it. At the same time, it is explained in detail why the "Turkistan Collection" created by Mejov stopped, and who formed the last parts of the collection. It was concluded that the "Turkestan Collection", created as a result of Medjov's scientific work, contains valuable information not only about the history, culture and traditions of Central Asia, but also about neighboring countries.Index Terms: Turkestan Collection, Meyjov, Central Asia, Governor-General of Turkestan, Kaufman, Rosenbach

Sustainability has long been a buzzword and is also currently one of the major priorities of tourism all over the world. In many places, hotels function as a driving force for socio-economic development, serving as employers for the local population, but also providing space for meetings, conferences, private/family events, and ceremonies. Unfortunately, the hotel industry is also considered an industry characterized by the consumption of considerable amounts of resources. These include mainly energy and water consumption, but also waste production. Emphasis is placed on the role of the communication between the various players involved in the operation of hotels. The article deals with applying elements of green management in a selected hotel in Czechia. It analyses the implementation of green management elements and principles of sustainable development in accommodation services. The primary data were conducted from April 2017 to March 2018 and we used structured and semi-structured interviews with the TOP management of the hotel and by author observation. We used the methods of scientific work, i.e., the analysis, mathematical, and statistical methods. As part of economic and social activities, cooperation with suppliers in the close surroundings of the hotel and the selection of local employees work well. Room for improvement has been observed, e.g., in supporting local infrastructure or promoting environmentally friendly types of transport.

Background. Considering the enormous risk of fractures in the course of osteoporosis in the area of the feet, an important aspect of prophylaxis is periodic and, in special cases, ongoing monitoring of defects and deformations as well as pressure distribution. The purpose of this article is to indicate the role of the examination of posture and pressure distribution during standing, postural balance, and gait, in the prevention of fatigue fractures in the course of osteoporosis, based on the literature review and examples of patients. Methods. The manuscript consists of two parts; it has a review-analytical character. The first part reviews the literature. The data were obtained using the MEDLINE (PubMed), as well as Cochrane and Embase databases. The database review was carried out focusing mainly on English-language publications, while taking into account the topicality of scientific and research works in the area of osteoporosis. The problem of multiaspects in the area of bone density was pointed out. Considering the above, in the second part, the authors analyzed 11 exemplary patients with osteoporosis, referring to the assessment of foot and lower limb defects using traditional posturological methods and including pedobarography to diagnostic procedures that are used in the assessment of pressure distribution, standing and moving, and an attempt to balance. Results. Analysis of the research and scientific literature proved the lack of unambiguous diagnostic procedures of the locomotor system recommended for the prevention of fatigue fractures in the course of osteoporosis. The main diagnostic recommendations are imaging tests (most often X-ray), which are recommended in the case of specific clinical symptoms. The analysis of exemplary patients with osteoporosis showed numerous disorders in the distribution of pressure in the plantar part of the feet, which are related, among other things, with their individual defects and lower limbs. Conclusions. Detailed posture diagnostics and gait estimation, along with the analysis of pressure distribution within the feet are a very important aspect of the prevention of structural degradation and fatigue fractures within the feet. An important postulate for further research and scientific work is the elaboration of the procedures that will serve the preventive diagnostics of the locomotor system, aimed at early detection of threats of fatigue fractures.

Relevance. In modern conditions, special attention is paid to preserving the health and quality of life of the working population through vaccination. The role of corporate medicine in the organization and implementation of a risk-based approach to the immunization of employees in enterprises and institutions is actively discussed. The aim of this study was to discuss the methodological and basic arrangements for the development and implementation of a new technology at an enterprise using vaccination - a corporate immunizations schedule. Materials and methods. The scientific work was carried out on the basis of generalization of our own experience and the experience of some regions of the Russian Federation on the formation and implementation of corporate immunizations schedules in industrial enterprises and in higher educational institutions. Results. The substantiation of the feasibility of introducing corporate immunizations schedules at enterprises and institutions is given, tasks, legal bases, an up-to-datelist of infections to be included in the corporate immunization schedules, conditions for its successful implementation and development prospects are presented. Conclusions. The corporate immunization schedules should be considered as one of the mechanisms for providing the working population with immunobiological drugs during the transition period (before the inclusion of actual infections in the National immunization schedule), actively discussed today in the pages of domestic literature.

Ideology is an important part of human life, both as ideals and the system of thinking. Nevertheless not many realize, that ideology is a construction, either consciously or naturally formed. This article is a literature study, in an effort to uncover and illustrate contemplatively the development of education of ideology, especially by placing civic education at Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam Negeri (PTKIN) as a filter of the radicalisation. The strategy offered is the adoption of integrated curriculum to raise students’ conscientization. The article discusses the transformation of Pancasila ideology through: i) urgency of civic education in PTKIN; II) The role of PTKIN to convey Pancasila as national ideology; and (iii) an integrated curriculum model in civic education as an ideological transformation effort. The discussion will begin from the role of PTKIN as a government representative in implementing education, which is to educate citizens as well as assert Pancasila as a nation's ideology. PTKIN must be able to translate the universal values of Islam and Pancasila, without any conflict. At the same time, the citizenship education in it does not have to be interpreted as a doctrinal space, but rather a dialogical space between the universal values of which — manifested in both the theory and the legal evidence — in various events. It will also comparatively describe that “stick and carrot model” would rather keep away from education goals, only create fear, and not differ from the pattern of a radicalism. In conclusion, the integrated curriculum involves the creation of products from various branches of science, multidisciplinary, especially from the scientific work that has been produced by PTKIN, as well as studies adopted from Islamic Studies. By adopting the integrated curriculum, hopefully, will be formed a holistic understanding of students, so that with the conscientization, independently will be able to analyse the threat of radicalism for the existence of the Republic of Indonesia.

This article is a narrative of my journey to becoming a nurse scientist, which began as an undergraduate student in nursing. Throughout this paper, I share the ingredients that have been critical to my success as a new scientist, how my past and present perceptions of the role of a scientist have evolved, and the personal benefits I have experienced in this role. I conclude with a summary of how I perceive the scientific work that I do contributes to knowledge and society. Overall, my mentors, collaborative networks, and foundational experiences as a graduate student have laid the foundation for my career as a new scientist and have prepared me to conduct multi-method intersectoral research, which I believe is critical to informing health policy.
