The effects of ramped wall temperature, rotation and porosity on mixed convection flow of incompressible second grade fluid are studied. The momentum equation is modelled in a problem of rotating fluid with constant angular velocity subjected to initial and oscillating boundary conditions. The energy equation is also introduced. Some suitable non-dimensional variables are used to write equations into non-dimensional form. Laplace transform method is used to solve these equations in order to obtain the analytical solutions of velocity and temperature profiles. Computations are carried out and presented graphically to analyse the effect of second grade fluid parameter, rotation parameter, porosity parameter, Prandtl number and Grashof number on the profiles. It is found that, for larger values of porosity parameter, the fluid velocity will increase for both primary and secondary velocities. The results also show that, velocity for ramped wall temperature is lower compared to isothermal temperature. It is worth to mention that, the exact solutions obtained in this study can be used to check correctness of the results obtained through numerical schemes.

ABSTRACTMixed convection flow of second grade fluid bounded by a permeable stretching surface is discussed. Soret and Dufour effects are also present. Series solutions for the resulting problems are made using homotopy analysis method (HAM). Analysis has been carried out for the effects of embedded parameters on the velocity, temperature and concentration fields. Numerical values of Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are computed and discussed.

The problem of unsteady mixed convection flow of second grade fluid over an inclined stretching plate under the influence of different shapes of nanoparticles is studied in this paper. The influence of gravity modulation is also considered. Carboxymethyl cellulose solution (CMC) is chosen as the non-Newtonian base fluid. Based on Tiwari-Das nanofluid model, the governing partial differential equations are transformed into a system of ordinary differential equations and solved numerically using an implicit finite difference scheme. The effect of different shapes and volume fraction of solid nanoparticles on the enhancement of convective heat transfer of second grade nanofluid associated with the effect amplitude of modulation, frequency of oscillation, and material parameter is discussed in details. The results indicated that, the needle-shaped nanoparticles give the highest enhancement on the heat transfer of second grade nanofluid compared to sphere and disk-shaped nanoparticles.

An analysis was carried out to study the mixed convection flow of a non-Newtonian second grade fluid past an inclined stretching sheet in the presence of a g-jitter effect. The transformed governing equation, consisting of coupled non-linear partial differential equations, was solved numerically using an implicit finite-difference scheme known as the Keller-box method. The flow and heat transfer characteristics in terms of velocity and temperature profiles as well as the skin friction and heat transfer coefficients influenced by the amplitude of modulation, frequency of oscillation, inclination angle and second grade parameters were presented graphically and analysed in detail. The findings revealed that the heat transfer coefficient is enhanced with an increase in the second grade parameter, whereas the opposite trend is observed for the skin friction coefficient.
