In the present scenario, work life balance for women employees is highly desirable and if there is no job satisfaction and consistency in life, it can create a dilemma for working women. Work life balance requires attaining equilibrium between professional work and personal work, so that it reduces friction between official and domestic life. The ultimate performance of any organization depends on the performance of its employees, which in turn depends on numerous factors. These factors can be related to job satisfaction or family or both. A comparative study is conducted among the working women of some Govt. colleges and national institutes of Bhopal in education sector and nationalized banks, running their in Bhopal (M.P.) for banking sector. The objective of this research is to study the working environment and women‟s perception about the work life balance and job satisfaction, who are working in banking and education sector. Apart from it, another significant objective is to study effects of work life balance on job satisfaction and initiatives taken by the organizations for effective work life balance and its relation with the job satisfaction. Standard Deviation is applied in this paper to check the authenticity of data given by the respondents of both the sectors. Finding suggests that WLB can be achieved by the factors responsible for job satisfaction such as: supportive colleagues, supportive working conditions, mentally challenging work, equitable rewards and employee oriented policies etc.

Purpose Clinical professionals working with psychologically traumatised children in the care system can experience potential challenges maintaining their own positive psychological health, and when repeatedly being exposed to the traumatic histories of those in their care. The purpose of this paper is to increase the understanding of vicarious trauma and provide a guide for focussing on future research. Design/methodology/approach This is a systematic literature review, considering 13 articles that met the criteria and identified five main themes linked to secondary traumatic stress/vicarious trauma in staff. Findings Five main themes were noted. These are: lack of organisational support; lack of health work-life balance; lack of appropriate training; failure to use self-care techniques; and staff failure to share when they are experiencing symptoms. Practical implications Various implications are noted from this review. These include: the importance of education and support for staff, to be mindful that newer staff may be considered an “at risk” group for the negative impact of such trauma, and to encourage staff in achieving an effective work-life balance. Originality/value This is a focussed systematic review on secondary and vicarious trauma on staff working with children exposed to psychological trauma, such as sexual and physical abuse.

Work from home approach has gained significant importance recently during the COVID-19 era. Working from home provides enough time for oneself to improve upon personal cores. Work-life balance means a healthy balance between working and personal life but in the 21st century, both working and personal areas contain too much stress, anxiety, tasks, and difficulties. As an employee working remotely who is successful in making a work-life balance, one can have more productivity, fewer chances of depression, more quality time for oneself and family and happy and healthy life. In this article, we will discuss the hindrances in work-life balance and the ways to create an effective work-life balance, especially for ‘work from home set-ups’.

Ascertaining the effective work and life balance of employees becomes relevant as human needs are evolved in the dynamic environment in which they operate. Several institutions, especially in the education sector have adopted the financial motivation mechanism in covering up for imbalance work life for employees. However, these challenges have persisted and require attention. We therefore aimed at examining a specific impact of work flexibility and environment on the performance of academic staff with a focus on the selected tertiary institutions in Kwara State. We retrieved 246 copies of questionnaires from academic staffs of three selected state-owned institutions. Thus, the data collected were analyzed using SPSS version 25. The new research result revealed that work-life balance through its variables (work flexibility and work environment) significantly affects the employees’ performance. We conducted a search by focusing on the work structures through work flexibility and environment and the analysis has established that work life balance significantly affects the employees’ performance through its indicators. Also, this study found out that with increase in a flexible work style not encroaching into the private life, employees reacts in a positive way and also when the environment becomes conducive, employees tend to rise their work culture thereby affecting their performance. This practical observation also goes in tandem with the position of spill over theory which best appropriates the distinctive factors between home and work. Thus, the new research results recommend making schedules to create clear boundaries between work and private space for attaining effective performance.

Zusammenfassung. In diesem Beitrag wird die Trierer Kurzskala zur Messung von Work-Life Balance vorgestellt. Sie ermöglicht eine globale, richtungsfreie und in ihrem Aufwand ökonomische Möglichkeit zur Erfassung von Work-Life Balance. Die Struktur der Skala wurde anhand zweier Stichproben sowie einem zusätzlich erhobenen Fremdbild untersucht. Die Ergebnisse der Konstruktvalidierung bestätigten die einfaktorielle Struktur der Skala. Die interne Konsistenz der Skala erwies sich in beiden Studien als gut. Zudem konnte die empirische Trennbarkeit der Trierer Work-Life Balance Skala gegenüber einem gängigen Instrument zur Messung des Work-Family Conflicts ( Carlson, Kacmar & Williams, 2000 ) belegt werden. Im Hinblick auf die Kriteriumsvalidität der Skala wurden die angenommenen Zusammenhänge zu arbeits-, nicht-arbeits- sowie stressbezogenen Outcome-Variablen nachgewiesen. Die Eignung der Trierer Work-Life Balance Kurzskala zeigt sich auch daran, dass die Korrelationen zwischen den erhobenen Outcome-Variablen und dem Work-Family Conflict und denen der Trierer Work-Life Balance Skala ähnlich waren. Überdies vermochte die Trierer Work-Life Balance Skala über die Dimensionen des Work-Family Conflicts hinaus inkrementelle Varianz in den Outcome-Variablen aufzuklären. Insgesamt sprechen damit die Ergebnisse beider Stichproben für die Reliabilität und Validität der Trierer Work-Life Balance Kurzskala.
