<span style="font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">The intent of this paper is to put forth a novel technique for improvising the QoS of multimedia applications in by using Modified dynamic mapping algorithm and Multipath transport(MPT) and Multi Description Coding(MDC). In recent years, dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP (DASH) is a dominated traffic in Internet. The client requests a suitable video presentation depending on the current network condition. On the other hand, multipath transport control protocol (MPTCP) emerges as a potential transmission protocol for data transfer via multiple network paths. In this paper, we conduct extensively experiments to evaluate the performance of DASH over MPTCP. Four different performance metrics are monitored, i.e., time on high quality, impactful switch, switch frequency, average bitrate. The result shows that MPTCP does not support DASH especially when two paths have different bandwidth.

In this paper we demonstrate how an estimated functional kernel-regression polynomial from a particular RF technology can be created by the mobiles being served by that technology. A 3rd order polynomial description of the regression can be used to predict future throughput by observing the “pilot” quality prior to handover. The UE may use it to predict the throughput it will get in the new technology 50 to 200 m-sec prior to handover. The prediction can inform the Transport Control Protocol (TCP) layer or the application layer of the upcoming handover and the throughput expected after handover so that the user application receives the best quality of service. This paper is an extended version of the paper presented at IEEE Sarnoff Symposium 2015 [1]. It extends the paper with expanded foundational knowledge and explanation of the results and their implications. In this paper we: • propose that there is a way to predict the unobservable quality metrics in the new cell prior to commencement of the handover. This is achieved by 1) a prediction mechanism and 2) a signaling mechanism. In this paper we focus on the prediction mechanism. • propose that the observable metric (“pilot” quality) is predicted with prediction error below 9% with prediction step sizes of 200 m-sec. • show that the throughput metric (we choose bits/physical-resourceblock = β) can be predicted with error below 8% with prediction horizon of 200 m-sec.

Mobile devices equipped with multiple network interfaces can increase their throughput by making use of parallel transmissions over multiple paths and bandwidth aggregation, enabled by the multipath Transport Control Protocol (MPTCP). However, the existing MPTCP congestion control algorithm adopt a relatively strict definition of the fairness, although to some extent could ensure the fairness of traditional TCP connections, but the total throughput of MPTCP will be limited, which can not make full use of network resources. To solve this problem, this paper propose a congestion control algorithm (FBCC) based on the fairness of bottleneck. The core idea of FBCC is to set up individual fairness factor for each shared bottleneck. NS3 simulation results show that FBCC algorithm not only solves the problem of fairness, but also effectively improve the total throughput of MPTCP connection.

This paper surveys major attempts on reducing latency and increasing the throughput. These methods are surveyed on different networks and surrounding’s such as wired networks, wireless networks, application layer transport control, Remote Direct Memory Access, and machine learning based transport control. On one hand every user likes to send and receive their data as quickly as possible. On the other hand the network infrastructure that connects users has limited capacities and these are usually shared among users. Thus Latency and Throughput Optimization is important in Modern networking.
