In this chapter, recent research on context-aware mobile and wearable computing is described. Starting from the observation of recent developments on Smartphones and research done in wearable computing, the focus is on possibilities to unobtrusively support the use of mobile and wearable devices. There is the observation that size and form matters when dealing with these devices; multimodality concerning input and output is important and context information can be used to satisfy the requirement of unobtrusiveness. Here, Frameworks as middleware are a means to an end. Starting with an introduction on wearable computing, recent developments of Frameworks for context-aware user interface design are presented, motivating the need for future research on knowledge-based intuitive interaction design.

Recent developments in computer technology make it possible to use sound more extensively in the computer interface than has hitherto been possible. This article describes research on uses of computer sound and suggests how sound might be used effectively by instructional and interface designers. After a review of some general principles of interface design and of basic research into auditory perception, the article examines two uses of sound: Earcons, whose purpose is to inform the user about the state of the system itself, and sonitization, whose purpose is to represent data generated by computer programs as sound. Both symbolic and iconic sounds are examined. The role of sound in virtual environments is also discussed with particular attention to its use in aircraft. Design guidelines are listed, and conclusions about needed research are offered.

Thiazoles have attracted much synthetic interest due to their wide variety of biological properties and are important members of heterocyclic compounds. In recent years, studies on the synthesis of thiazole compounds have been increasing because of the properties of this core. In particular, the hybrid structures in which the thiazole ring and the other nuclei are linked have gained popularity. Hybrid structures are formed by the combination of different groups of chemical reactivity and biological activity characteristics. In this review, we highlight recent developments related to hybrid structures containing a thiazole core, recently developed as anticancer, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-tubercular, antialzheimer and antidiabetic compounds.

This chapter is intended to provide an overview of the Intelligent User Interfaces subject. The outline includes the basic concepts and terminology, a review of current technologies and recent developments in the field, common architectures used for the design of IUI systems, and finally the IUI applications. Intelligent user interfaces (IUIs) are attempting to address human-computer connection issues by offering innovative communication approaches and by listening to the user. Virtual reality is also an emerging IUI area that can be the popular interface of the future by integrating the technology into the environment so that at the same time it can be more real and invisible. The ultimate computer interface is more like interacting with the computer in a dialog, an interactive environment of virtual reality in which you can communicate. This chapter also explores a methodology for the design of situation-aware frameworks for the user interface that utilizes user and context inputs to provide details customized to the activities of the user in particular circumstances. In order to comply to the new situation, the user interface will reconfigure itself automatically. Adjusting the user interface to the actual situation and providing a reusable list of tasks in a given situation decreases operator memory loads. The challenge of pulling together the details needed by situation-aware decision support systems in a way that minimizes cognitive workload is not addressed by current user interface design.
