Various substituted aryl nitrile and 1,2,3-triazole derivatives were prepared by using carbon supported copper nanoparticles (C/Cu NPs) as a heterogeneous catalyst under ligand-free conditions, which provided good to excellent yields.

We found that DMF-stabilized Cu NPs have high catalytic activity in the Sonogashira cross-coupling reaction at low catalyst loadings (0.2 mol%).

Dangerous Condition

Transfer hydrogenation is one of the reactions of high industrial application and copper catalyst is widely used in variety of hydrgenated substrates. Unfortunately, these hydrogenated processes were usually performed at high temperature and pressure as well as high concentration of catalyst. In this study, we have tried to reduce the dangerous condition by using copper nanoparticles as catalyst and the catalytic activity will be evaluated via the transfer hydrogenation of benzaldehyde. Besides, copper nanoparticles were successful prepared by the reduction between CuSO4.5H2O and NaBH4 in the presence of PVP. All catalysts were fully characterized.

<div>An extract of <i>Aloe Vera</i> acts as a powerful reducing agent for the synthesis of ultrasmall copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) in water medium. The prepared copper nanoparticles are characterized by XRD, HRTEM and UV-Vis analysis. The diameter of the prepared nanoparticle is less than 5 nm. The catalytic activity of CuNPs has been successfully evaluated for the three-component reaction to synthesize 1,2,3-triazoles and chalcone tethered 1,2,3-triazoles with low catalyst loading and under mild reaction conditions. These triazoles are further utilized for the synthesis of dihydropyrazines.</div>
