Copper(II) and nickel(II) ions were bonded in complexes of salicylideneimine type on a glycidyl methacrylate-ethylenedimethacrylate copolymer. The geometry of the complexes on the polymer was studied by measuring their magnetic properties, EPR spectra, and ultraviolet-visible spectra.Only paramagnetic complexes possessing a pseudo-tetrahedral configuration were found. The effect of the polymer matrix and of the immobility of the bonded Schiff base on the distortion of the coordination sphere of the central ion is discussed.

The structure and the magnetic properties of 3.0 and 0.3 at.% Mn-containing ZnO-based DMSs, synthesized by a straightforward and experimentally simple nonaqueous route, have been investigated by various characterization techniques, including XRD, HRTEM, and EPR. The as-synthesized doped ZnO nanocrystals retain the wurtzite structure with a morphology in the form of flower-like shape. EPR spectra with g-factor values of 2.0023(3% at.%) and 2.0019(0.3 at.%), respectively, at room temperature were obtained, confirming that the Mn2+ is substitutionally incorporated into the ZnO nanocrystals.

AbstractLiIn(WO4)2 single crystals and nanopowders doped with chromium(III) ions were synthesized and investigated, including their EPR spectra and magnetic properties. The EPR spectra have shown low and high field lines attributed to isolated chromium ions with an electron spin S=3/2 and complex chromium centers with higher spin value, respectively. Magnetic susceptibility measurements revealed an almost linear dependence on the magnetic field. The electron resonance and magnetic properties have been related to the structural and spectroscopic data of the studied material.
